I have been taking oral probiotics to help manage my gum health, as I have bone loss and have had to get a lot of dental care to begin to get that under control. Every evening I floss, brush well with a soft toothbrush and a hydroxyapatite toothpaste, use a gentle mouthwash, and then let my oral probiotic dissolve in my mouth. It is easy to use. The goal is to deliver helpful microorganisms to my oral microbiome to keep harmful bacteria and inflammation under control. One of the most helpful is Streptococcus salivarius, and that’s why I chose this Natures Craft Oral Probiotics, although it does not contain as many other bacterial strains as I would like. I believe that diversity of strains is helpful to the function of probiotics, though the field of oral probiotics may be a bit less developed than in the case of gut probiotics. They seem to function since my gum health has remained good recently. My breath is also fresh. I am having no oral pain.

The Natures Craft Store Oral Probiotics are sugar free and contain Xylitol as a sweetener which makes sense because Xylitol also fights cavities. Unlike my other oral probiotics which have been fruit flavored, this one is minty and I enjoy the flavor. It dissolves pretty easily and is pleasant.

The best value is clearly to get the multi packs. I think this is a reasonable choice because the strains in it are well selected but I would prefer an oral probiotic that had a greater variety of strains and that is why I gave four stars rather than five. I have yet to find what I think is a really great oral probiotic. But this one at least is very pleasant to take and I am confident that it helps.

For background, I use an electronic toothbrush and brush for about four minutes before bed, yet I still wake up with unpleasant morning breath. When using this product, that changed. The mint tablet resembles an Altoid, but is not nearly as strong. Chewing the tablet dissolves it instantly, while letting it dissolve on the tongue takes five to ten seconds. After the tablet dissolves, it leaves a white, semi-slick slurry in the mouth. The bottle does not provide clear directions other than letting the tablet dissolve in the mouth. My routine has been to vigorously swish the slurry around my mouth and between my teeth. The idea is to allow the active ingredients to reach all areas and help eliminate harmful bacteria while supporting & colinizing beneficial bacteria. After one or two minutes of swishing, I swallow most of the slurry and go to bed. In the morning, my mouth tends to be a bit dry, but my breath is much fresher and I no longer have an unpleasant taste. Thus its an effictive at killing order causing bacteria. I am hopeful that this product can help eliminate colonies of bad bacteria that contribute to tartar. If it does, dental visits could be spaced farther apart and cleanings would mainly address tartar buildup; removing the bacteria that cause tartar could prevent it from forming altogether.
