I bought this at the recommendation of my mom, after she used the jetted tub cleaner with amazing results. She had gifted me a front loading washer & dryer that had been in a house she had been renting out. I was super excited for the set, until I discovered that the washer was FULL of mildew. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize this until after we had hauled away my old set and set the new one up.
My best guess is the renters washed everything in cold water, used a lot of detergent, and closed the door between loads. Everywhere I looked, I found mildew, and I couldn’t get that awful musty smell to go away.
I tried everything the Internet recommends. I ran the self-cleaning cycle, twice. I bleached everything I could reach, wiped down the gasket and drum, detergent dispenser, cleaned out the filter on the bottom. I was desperate to bring this washer to like-new status, but that dreaded musty smell wouldn’t go away.
I added a gallon of HOT water to the drum, and almost a half a bottle of this stuff. I let it sit for an hour and a half, turning the drum to swish the soapy water around, every 15 minutes. I also wiped the gasket down, everywhere I could reach, with the soapy water and a rag. After an hour and a half, I turned my self clean cycle on. The first thing my washer did was drain the soapy water, and I thought all hope was lost! But enough soap stayed in the washer that the hot water it used for the self cleaning cycle was soapy. It swished it around for 4 hours, rinsed it clean, and OH MY WORD. I can hardly smell anything!!
I’m leaving my review at 4 stars for now. The smell is not 100% gone, but I will be running a second cycle with Oh Yuk! in the morning. If the smell stays away until it’s time for next month’s routine cleaning, I will definitely bump it up to 5 stars! Either way, I finally have hope for this washer!
This stuff is amazing! If you aren’t working with a washer as far gone as mine, it will probably work perfectly!

I’ve been using the Oh Yuk! jetted tub cleaner for 2-3 years now (also amazing stuff!) I recently notice that my front load washer wasn’t draining well at all, quite a bit of water was collecting in that area under the door seal where it drains. I clean the machine somewhat regularly with either white vinegar, bleach, or the widely available name brand washing machine cleaner. I basically just clean it when the “clean washer” alert comes on. We’re pretty good about leaving the door open so it rarely stinks but on occasion it will and I’ll run vinegar through. So with it not daring we’ll, I knew I needed something more powerful. I knew what this brand did for my jetted tub the first time I used it so I decided to try the washing machine version. So glad I did!!
I ran this Oh Yuk! through the washer, per the directions. Just a tiny bit of water remained in the seal. Huge improvement after just one cycle, but I felt it could be better. I mixed up another batch and poured some right into the door seal/drain. Much of it drained right away but a little remained so I was going to let it sit and soak for 10-15 minutes. But then I noticed something sticking out from under the seal. I investigated a little. And wow, was I surprised at the gunk I found! Apparently this stuff loosened it all up. I wiped it out as best as I could with a rag (that I promptly threw in the trash – it was that bad.) Then I poured some of the mixture onto a clean rag and wiped it all again. It really cleaned it up well! (Second rag went in the trash, too.) I then poured the rest of the mixture in the washer as directed and ran another cycle. When I checked the seal after I discovered that it had drained completely!
I’ll use this for the regular cleanings from now on. I highly recommend this product!
(Also, if you have a jetted tub (inside or outside), and you haven’t tried the Oh Yuk! for that, you should!)

I’ve used this item once, it’s difficult to determine if it cleaned my machine’s drum or how much it cleaned. The black staining on the rubber seal didn’t reduce at all. I’ll give it three starts as I have two more uses left to learn if the product works. Nice scent though

I am really impressed with the oh yuk! Washing machine cleaner. First you just have to let it sit in the washing machine with a gallon of hot water for an hour before you run a cycle. Making it very easy to use. It smells good. Directions are simple. I believe it’s well price especially since the product works better than anything I’ve ever purchased to clean my washing machine before. No mold or mildew smells. I will definitely be buying more of this. Works for extremely well.

Our washing machine has had this moldy mildew smell for awhile, and even after taking it apart and cleaning every inch of mold, dirt, etc. out of it, that I could find, the darn thing still smelled! I started using more detergent, more fabric softener, and even started buying those extra boosting liquids and fabric softener pods/beads to make the smell go away in our clothes. I was cleaning the washing machine every week with this concoction of Tide, Arm & Hammer, and Borax, which works great to get anything out of clothes, but all it was doing was pulling little pieces of mold out of the washing machine. Then I found this stuff and I read all of the reviews. I thought there’s no way this stuff can get rid of that smell, but it’s worth a try. I’M SO GLAD I TRIED because IT WORKED!!!! I followed the instructions and I used half the bottle, but I plan on buying more, so if one bottle cleans it two times, I’m okay with that. Anything is better than having your clothes smell like mold! It was so easy to use, no damage to our clothes afterwards, and as long as you keep it with your laundry stuff, you shouldn’t mistake it for medicine like someone else said they did. I was so relieved to grab a clean towel and actually smell my laundry detergent and fabric softener instead of mold. I’ve been telling everyone about it, AND I’m excited to try their other cleaners for the dishwasher and jetted tubs. I wish I had found this stuff a long time ago! Thank you to whoever made this product!!!!
