Avery Printable Note Cards with Envelopes, 4.25″ x 5.5″, Matte White, 60 Blank Note Cards for Inkjet Printers (08315) by Avery

I just received my note card pack yesterday and immediately printed some of them. They are great! Here are some of my observations, prompted from other reviews: (1) PAPER COATING: there is indeed a side of the paper that’s coated–says so on the back of the pkg–and it’s slightly whiter and smoother than the other side. (2) PERFORATIONS: when I first saw the sheet, I was expecting to see it “quartered off” by perforations and a fold line. Not. The line you see on there is where you’ll separate the two cards and it may be perforated but it’s not obvious, even when held to the light. I chose to use a paper cutter along that line for a clean cut. There is a fold line for the card itself but, again, it’s not obvious. if you SLIGHTLY bend the paper in half, perpendicular to the obvious line, you’ll see a line appear. (3) TEMPLATE: The template was already in my Microsoft Word. Open a blank document, choose “Mailings” then “Labels”. When the next window comes up, click on “Options” and then select “Avery 8315 Note Cards.” Then click on “New Document” and voila the template comes up. If you want to add text on the back of the card, I found it easier to place the picture and rotate it rather than try to figure out how to rotate the text. (4) PRINTING: Avery suggests using printer setting “Best” and “Cardstock” or “Heavy Paper.” My Canon printers do not have those paper selections so I used “Matte Photo Paper” (remember to print on the coated side of the paper) and “Standard” and got excellent results (and saved some ink). If I were printing a picture that I wanted to archive, I would choose “Best.” Ideally, allow the paper to dry for several hours–out of direct sunlight–before cutting and folding. I hope those tips help!

i do watercolors and i photograph my artwork and put in a file for avery note cards so that i can print them out. the note cards are sturdy and well made with a very nice finish on them. the ink takes to the paper very well and the images are crisp and defined. the note cards fold in half and i can print my images so that the cards either open bottom to top…or right to left. very pleased and have been using this product for a long time without any problems. i would advise printing in black and white (so as not to waste the ink) on a test sheet to make sure that you have placed the photo that you want printed on the correct side of the notecard. otherwise, you might find that you have printed on the back of the card instead of the front. the paper has room for two note cards and you have to make sure that they print correctly. great product!

These are very good quality cards that can be printed for any purpose – Thank You, Invitation, X-mas cards etc. etc. Although the box says that they are for inkjet printers, I have used them in Dell, Brother & Samsung laser printers without any problem.

But I did need to download the template from the Microsoft Office web site. The template also works for iWork & Pages in Mac – just open the template from the File menu in Pages. Then I found out that Avery has software providing templates for all its products at its web site. The software is DesignPro for Mac and Wizard for Microsoft Office on Windows and is available for free download at Avery web site. As of July each card and envelope comes to about 28 cents a card. Not bad.

Bottom line – good product, saves from running to store each time you need a different kind of card and then you can also customize the card.

I’m using these to make note cards with a matte inkjet-printed photo on one of the four panels of the folded card and some printed text on a different panel. You get 60 sheets of 8.5 x 11 card stock that are perforated to make 120 note cards which you separate after running through an inkjet printer, making two copies of each card. Avery gives a website for software you can use online or by download, but I haven’t tried this software. I use Word 2010 and Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 6 instead. (If you need help with the Word or Lightroom settings to do this, post a comment asking and if I see it, I’ll post the instructions.) Each folded note card measures 4.25 x 5.50 inches. You also get 120 envelopes. The quality of the cardstock is very good. At the current amazon price, they’re an excellent value, so I’m rounding up to 5 stars for that.

One side of the card stock is coated matte paper–it’s NOT coated glossy–it’s coated matte–making the coated matte side more appropriate than the plain side of the card stock for printing a photo. Most pens will write on either the coated or the uncoated side. The difference is subtle, but brush both sides of the blank cardstock with a clean finger, and you probably will agree: one side is very slightly smoother, and that’s the coated side which should be used for photo printing if any. If you’re still not sure which side is coated, moisten a finger and touch each side in one corner; the tackier side is the coated side. Set your printer to matte photo paper and high quality photo if you can, for best results. You can print borderless photos on these *if* your printer and software allow this setting (many inkjet printers do *not*), however you may have to use a paper trimmer to clean up the photo on one edge as it may bleed through to the other note card, so a small white border may enable you to avoid using a trimmer and work better for you. To get a clean break, carefully crease along the perforation in both directions before pulling apart.
