I have purchased two printers from Amazon and returned two printers looking for one that worked if you do not need a Wi-fi printer and you’re looking for something small especially for like a camper like I was this is the perfect one you will have to purchase the USB cable separately I would recommend going to Walmart to get that in advance because when I ordered this printer I ordered the cable and the cable never arrived Printer is no good without the cable but once I got the cable from Walmart this printer is phenomenally fast excellent print quality all around extremely satisfied with this printer and of course the fast shipping speed

Es una impresora básica. No copia, no escanea y no tiene entrada para usb, ipad ni iPhone. Intente con adaptador y no pude. Solo funciona con cable desde computadora. Imprime muy bien.

Forget all the negative here. I’m 89 year old and been using computers since 1984. I have an HP with a drawer, (who in the world would buy a computer without one???) Anyway I had no problems using the CD to set the printer up or following the instructions to do so. The area it takes up is a third of what my old Cannon all in one did. More desktop space to use. It is light enough anyone can pick it up with ease. It is well worth the 5 stars I gave it.
My only complaints are and they aren’t large;
(1) it doesn’t ask you if you want an icon on the screen and you have to find the printer on the control panel or hard drive and tell the computer to put one there.
(2) and this is the largest thing to me, it takes so long to a-line the heads. I have never had to a-line heads in any printer, so this was new but it was very time consuming although you were walked through it step by step. Along with the time, the printer had to use ink to show you the a-lineaments so you can click the various areas on the screen to set them for the best printing. I hope Cannon took this into consideration when they loaded the ink cartridges that came with it. (I did buy a second set of the XL at the time I got the computer).
(3) with my arthritic hands it took a little bit to get the cartridges in, there is no latch like the other printers have so you have to push in and up till they click.
As for the operation it is great, the print is clear, it doesn’t take long to print (exception is the a-lineament pages) and it doesn’t give you any sass. It is the next step up from the old printers we started out with that had the tape that ran back and fourth and could be loaded from the bottom so you could set an entire paper case under them.. Loved those old ones.
This one to me and for me is great. I don’t need nor do I like the All In Ones I find something is always not working or jamming, or taking time, or giving me sass etc. I don’t print a lot, statements etc at end of month, or perhaps a picture now and then. For the kid in collage for the older person who just wants a nice SIMPLE PRINTER and doesn’t need a FAX or the SCANNER coming with it, this is a fantastic step. I always have thought that you need your computer pieces separate, so that when one goes out you don’t loose the fax and scanner etc. It’s much more expensive to replace an All In One for home then just run out and pick up a printer or a scanner. I have used a cannon Lide scanner for years; I’m on my third one and love my extra pieces sitting on their own and not together.
That said this is a fantastic little light weight work horse printer that is easy to install, easy to use, and doesn’t give any sass or say it can’t print, you’re off line, paper jam, etc. I recommend it for people who don’t need all the bells and whistles that an all in one gives (provided you can get and keep them working), and only need to print paper or a picture. I hope Cannon keeps this printer in their line up because when mine goes out, if it does, I want another one.

Simple little unit! Hooked right up to my chromebook and works flawlessly. No fancy bells and whisltes. Not a scanner. Just a simple printer. Beautiful colors and great looking documents without a lot of fluff. I needed a printer for school.
And this fit the bill. If you’re looking for simple printing or even printing for crafts, this is your machine. If you need simething a bit more complex or need scanning abilities, this isnt it. But for my needs its wonderful! And at $37 you can’t beat the price!

DIDN’T CONNECT PROPERLY TO MY COMPUTER

I rarely need to print anything on paper at home, but like to have something. My ≈20 year old HP printer had died, so I wanted something inexpensive to replace it.
I see that some reviewers were annoyed by the fact that this doesn’t come with a USB cable. Perhaps earlier versions of the ad did not mention this, but it’s in the description now and did not surprise me. My old printer cable worked fine.
I no longer have a Windows or Mac computer. This does work with my laptop and desktop, both of which have Ubuntu 20.04. Downloaded the Debian package directly from the Canon web site. Unpacked in the downloads folder, navigated there in a shell, and typed “sudo ./install.sh”. Easy peasy.
There is a Canon mobile app for android, but unfortunately it’s only for their wireless printers, and this one needs a USB connection. I found an app called Nokoprint, which lets me print from my android phone and tablet using the cable, although of course, an additional adapter is required (which I already had). It didn’t have a Canon driver, but used a generic driver that works. The only problem is that this app has very aggressive ads, which are particularly annoying on the tablet, to the point where it actually makes it more complicated to print something. Still, I just wanted to have that capability; I’ll hardly ever use it with those devices. Someone else may be able to suggest a better app.
Anyway, that part is not Canon’s fault. This is a good basic printer which is fine for what I need, printing out the occasional document or picture on letter sized paper. It is supposed to do other sizes as well, but I haven’t tried that.
This did come with ink cartridges, although I bought spares while I was at it.

I’m gonna come right out of the gate and say that this isn’t my first Canon printer, and yet, for some reason, I cannot – for the life of me – figure out why I can’t get this one to work. I set it up, performed all of the necessary steps with ease, and then when I went to print, it wouldn’t recognize the paper. I had about 25 sheets of US Letter paper inserted and no matter what I did, I would get an error message claiming there was no paper. Upon closer inspection, I noticed the paper rollers didn’t even spin. They would only touch the paper over and over again, making it clear to me that it wasn’t a user error, it was a printer error. Now, why a brand new printer would have a printer error like this is beyond me, but all I can say is that the price fits the product.

This printer is easy to set up.
The print quality is excellent.
My problem with this printer is that it can only print on 4×6 photo paper. This is not clearly indicated in the product description. I needed to print up to 8×11.
Unfortunately, I had to send it back.
To be fair this is not a bad printer, just limited in the photo printing capability.
