Happy circumstance: I remember enough arithmetic from my school days, to do basic calculations with pencil and paper, or in my head (cashiers are always amazed … 😎 ).
But as an American interested in European and world affairs, the calculations I cannot do easily are: American measurements to Metric, Metric to American. A never-ending source of annoyance.
This little calculator solves the problem very well. Must own 4 of them (2 I can’t find: also annoying).
My only criticism would be: the labels for the various types of calculation can be difficult to read, because I have to take off my glasses (very near-sighted, and getting to an age, sad to write …).
Definitely a “Don’t leave home without it!” gadget. Also much handier than the iPhone.

This calculator is a breeze to use. I can quickly convert to and from metric units without too many keystrokes. The build quality is solid, and I really like the soft rubberized buttons. It’s become my primary calculator on my desk. I also bought a second one to carry when I travel. I find it helpful when traveling to a foreign country. I highly recommend it.

I bought it for its metric conversion capabilities, and it does that very conveniently. It is compact and versatile.

Wow! This Sharp EL344RB calculator does everything. It can actually calculate fractions. And it can mix decimals with fractions. It also has metric and USA measurement conversions as well as foreign currency buy / sell conversion. For a small calculator it has a large display. Many other calculators loose their currency conversion entries after they time out. Not this one. You can pick it up 2 days later and it still has your foreign conversion detail in memory. It also has a constant multiplicand – great for figuring your net pay without repeatedly entering the Gross amount. It has dual power and comes with a nice folding vinyl case. This is not a complicated device. Some of the features are not intuitive, but within 30 minutes you can learn all of the features. No engineering degree from MIT required. Any 12yr old with a half a brain can use this, It’s quite accurate.it’s calculations are always correct. In fact it’s a great toy. I’m always trying to fool it. For the price, a bargain, without having to drag out my laptop or tablet and call up the correct apps. I wholeheartedly recommend this calculator.

This calculator is still working. I am retired now for 10 years and it still works!. Perfect size for a pocket. Battery still works.

First and most important is the dimensions they list on Amazon are twice as large as the actual calculator. Keys and screen are way too small. I bought based upon listed measurements.
Second, I need metric conversion. Guess what? It does have a millimeter to inch conversion. That is what I use everyday in my wood shop. OMG
The actual dimensions are: 4 11/16″ high & 2 3/8″ wide. That is far short of the stated: 7.5 x 4.63 x 0.5 in
If you want a dinky calculator with metric missing millimeters, then go for it.

It’s ok. Took me a bit to figure out how to use it but I did not it works ok. Does not have the option to calculate “mm” it only calculates “cm”.

This is a normal calculator with the addition of many function buttons for converting between metric and imperial measurements, e.g., square meters to square feet, liters to gallons, km to miles, lbf./sq. inch to kilopascals, Fahrenheit to Celsius, kilocalories to kilojoules, and many others. This involves pressing the number in question, a to metric or from metric key, and the function key appropriate to the conversion desired; a bit awkward but reasonably quick anyway. There are 22 different conversions available (though one I would have liked that wasn’t there was lbf. to newtons). The calculator itself is both solar and battery powered and has basic math functions, though it would have been more useful to me if it had an ability to do exponents other than square roots. As it is, a nice device to have handy, especially if you find a scientific calculator too complicated.

This 344R replacement for the 344G is actually an improvement. With two of the old versions now on their last legs after 10 years of daily use, it is good to find a close replacement. The new battery back-up feature is in addition to the old version solar powered-only unit. The buttons and conversions are basically the same as the old version. It adds algebraic functions and currency rate conversions, useful for foreign money rates. If it lasts as long as the old version, money well spent. revision: just realized that the new version goes out to 10 digits, vs. the old version of only 8 digits. Something I need regularily.
