First off, this vacuum is probably one of the best vacuums I’ve owned in the sense that it does a great job picking up. We have 2 German Shepherds and when they shed, they SHED and this vacuum makes very short work of all the fur that’s left behind.
The reason I do NOT recommend it: The unfortunate part and the reason I’m returning it is after only a week and a half of using it I’ve had to untangle it twice, the first time was with the pet tool and the second was with the main beater bar assembly which was so bad that it stopped, began smelling and when I disassembled it to remove the tangle I found that part of the beater bar assembly had melted.
The vacuum itself is great, does a great job but there is a design flaw and hopefully Bissell can get this rectified because it definitely has potential of being fantastic!

Oh my goodness, where has this vacuum been for the last 11 years? We’ve got an 11 year old golden retriever/cattle dog x and he sheds super bad. Even after a good brushing. After I put it together (super easy), I just had to try it out. This vacuum has great power and the suction is beyond fantastic. I do appreciate that the roller on the bottom doesn’t get hair trapped around it. It’s very easy to use and empty the dust container. It’s definitely built for hair removal. It gets a lot of dirt out of my carpet, (from our dogs). The only thing that I don’t like, is that the cord doesn’t seem to be long enough.
With that being said, I can’t give it anything less than a 5 star rating and I do recommend it if you’ve got pets. I recommend it also for the suction power.

After multiple attachment replacements on my Dyson Animal DC07, I decided to try another brand. I researched a lot of lift-off style models and chose the Bissell 2998. I have two short-hair cats that I didn’t think shed a tremendous amount (ha!), but they seem to fling litter everywhere they go. After six weeks with this thing, I’m still amazed at how full the tank is after each use.
PROS:
– It does a fantastic job cleaning carpets! It has amazing suction power.
– I love the convenience and portability of the lift off tank. Good-bye to lugging around the whole unit.
– The brush attachment is amazing for cleaning carpeted stairs. On its first use, it pulled a shocking amount of cat litter out of the steps.
– The headlights are bright and well placed. They’re more effective than I expected.
– The swivel style is very maneuverable and helps reach difficult places.
CONS:
– It’s almost worthless on bare floors when the brush is turned off. It hardly picks up anything at all. Most of my house is carpeted, so it’s not a huge deal breaker for me.
– The cord is shorter than the Dyson, so I have to move the plug frequently when going from room to room.
– And, since the cord is attached to the tank it comes out near the bottom of the unit when used in the upright position. In order to avoid running over it, I end up holding it in the hand that grips the handle which shortens the length even more.
– I wish it had a release button a the top of the tank like the Dyson for a cleaner way to empty the debris.

I’m not someone who usually likes to write about anything and therfore writing a review is not my top list of priorities
However I felt I had to take a few minutes to share my experience with the Bissell 2998 Vacuum
I absolutely love this vacuum. I’m a long time loyal fan and customer of Bissell
This new vacuum that I recently purchased with Amazon is amazing. First a huge thank you to Amazon for making the purchase affordable for customers with their payment plan
This vacuum has above all superior suction power. It is not as noisy as my previous vacuums. It maneuvers quite well. Numerous options for the maneuvering.
It’s pretty much a lightweight vacuum.
What I want to point out is that there’s LED Lights built in the vacuum at the front
I have a degenerative eye condition and I have to say this feature is very important for me and I am very happy with Bissell for having this feature

I had a very nice older model Shark, it was fancy looking, swiveled, and picked up debris and hair excellently.
The issue I had with the shark was emptying the dirt, the capsule wasn’t very easy to get off, and it was a pain cleaning out. I had to dig stuff out and removing the filters was inconvenient you had to reach up into the filthy capsule to remove the filters.
That vacuum burned up recently, so I began searching through reviews and comparing prices etc. this one had a 28% off sale, and despite that it still was a bit high, I didn’t want to spend a small fortune on a vacuum cleaner but I didn’t want a piece of junk, either. I decided to give it a shot after I seen the flexibility it offered as a cleaner.
This vacuum cleaner Multiclean Bissell turns on/off the brushes so it can clean hard surfaces (turn off brushes) and then when on carpet turn the brushes on to get a deeper clean. It definitely makes a huge difference on the carpet. Amazingly the crevice tool works splendidly. The vacuum puts all of its power into the tool when it is in use, and it will take up stubborn old hair and dust that might be trapped in the corners of a carpeted room. It works!
Once done, the dirt and hair falls out effortlessly into the trash can. I never had to remove anything for all of the debris to fall out.
Everything the Multiclean picks up, stays inside the vacuum cleaner… nothing escapes it. No dust, nothing. It really does filter the dust and keep everything inside that it picks up.
The Multiclean vacuum worked flawlessly for the things I needed it for! I did not need to remove the body and carry it around, the crevice tool hose was able to stretch to reach everything I needed to pick up so I have not tested that feature yet.
It is not a lightweight vacuum cleaner, so I imagine some people will find that a flaw, but for me it is not a big deal. If I had to rate this with more expensive vacuum cleaners, I’d say this thing is just as good as the $300-$350 dollar vacuum cleaners. It’s easily worth $175-$200 in my mind.
I felt compelled to write a review, because the Multiclean Bissell vacuum cleaner was actually fun to use, because it worked perfectly. I can’t imagine one being better, that’s how good it is to me.

Quite impressive. I have 3 different vacuums ( one for each floor) which were quite expensive. This is my preference and works the best. I didn’t think the light would matter and by golly. It hits the places I missed by my previous vacuum and I thought I was being thorough.
