Wanted a small garbage and recycle for the bar area

works as it should

Easy to install and we love having the trash hidden now! I was disappointed with the wood part- it does not look like it was made well and honestly does not look like itโs worth the money we spent for it.

Lousy directions. Drawer slides end up installed too high once the garbage can is in place. Of course, I didn’t realize that until it was finished. Had to do it all over again. Better off not following the directions at all.

Great to have a garbage can but it was difficult
K. G. Mancini –
I have always wanted a place to put my trash where it isn’t in some filthy can that bangs closed or gets stuffed until it is spilling out in the middle of the kitchen. Having a trash pull out with a small scraps bin with lid ( I changed out the white tub for a grey with Rev a shelf green lid recycle bin with handle that we use for compost stuff or chicken scraps-had to add some wood supports under the cavity where the white cubby thing was) is so fantastic. And as designed the kitchen I kept thinking how this space will stink and attract bugs…so I had an outlet installed beneath the back bin so we could add a carbon filtering plug in air filter thing.
I also added a pull out drawer I pirated out of a cabinet that the manufacturer messed up on and now have a pull out beneath the trash for all the trash bags, both the small can and the large can and it keeps replacement filters handy too for that plug in thing.
I mounted the pull out 1.5″ higher than recommended to clear the 3″ tall pull out drawer full of bags.
Make sure it’s level, or the trash will open on its own…make sure your cabinets have enough room in the back to let this close all the way. I added a felt bumper to the back because I didn’t want to have the hinges slam. I’m disappointed in the hinges not being slow close. I will fix that though eventually. Isn’t this a no Brainer and shouldn’t it be a standard feature on all Rev a shelfs?
I also lined the bottom of the cabinet with a waterproof membrane and the inside of the trash bag pull out drawer with the same. I know spills will happen. I also am putting clear contact paper on the inside to keep spills from staining as well as a 3/4″ stick on quarter round molding at the bottom of that. Before the drawer to direct spills into the drawer before they pool around my cabinet. I’m paranoid about keeping the cabinet in good shape. I have kids and I know the way trash areas get treated.
Anyway, aside from the absence of slow close hinges, I think only the front door mounting brackets were an issue, they stuck out further than i wanted due to my shallower cabinets with no lower adjustment in or out. So I drilled a hole near the channel at that area similar to an upside down L on either side and got a more adjustable bracket.
I realize I made a lot of adjustments, but overall, the trash pull out with its special door face hinges were what I needed to begin my journey to a better trash experience.
I suggest seeing if there is a unit with slow close hinges before you purchase and you can go to the Rev a shelf site with your cabinet dimensions and see which models will fit your cabinet…a lot of these are for face frame cabinet dimensions and I have European cabinets. I wanted all the room I could get and I don’t regret it!
Happy Rev a shelf pull out trash hunting!

Holds a small child’s weight easily and is still easy to shut. We know the kids will hang on it, figured we might as well test it out and make sure itโll hold up to them abusing it.

Good workmanship and quality, liked it very much. Cons- the metal hinges to slide door are not great quality, a little weak. Stopped functioning weeks later with a little pressure. Hinges had to be replaced.
