I’m preemptively giving this rice cooker five stars, because I had one of the older ones and I loved it. This commercial version is what I would consider and upgraded version. The rice cooker pot is definitely an upgrade over the other one, it’s very nice and it’s going to hold up well. The cooker itself looks great and has more functions than the one I had.
There is, however, one problem and concern with the rice pot: when I first looked at it, it looked like it had been used and I washed it and ran my finger along the bottom of the pot and there was this oily film/residue on the entire inside of the pot. Obviously, it wasn’t food-grade, it was more than likely a petroleum/silicone based product that was probably used in the manufacturing process. Either way, it should be removed before it ever gets to the consumer, if it is indeed part of the manufacturing process.
Dish detergent did not touch it, I tried Dawn Power Wash-that didn’t work. I finally had to use Krud Kutter FOUR times with a sponge to finally get the residue off. Essential lemon oil probably would have worked as well, but I didn’t think of that until now.
I also rewashed the pot at least twice with dish detergent and rinsed it well to make sure that I didn’t have any residue from the cleaner left.
Other than that, I do love this rice cooker and I will update on performance. Just check to see if you have the residue in the rice pot, aaaand prepare to never get the time back that it’s going to take to get the film off.

Muy bien pero si están limitadas sus funciones, el modelo más grande hace más cosas

This does what I want it to and it was the right price. This is actually the second one I’ve bought and I was happy with both. It’s lightweight, easy to store (the cord can easily be rolled up and tucked under the handle), it doesn’t take up a lot of cabinet space, and all of the accessories fit inside. It’s very easy to use and the performance is consistent. The inside of the bowl is labeled with measurements. It seems to keep time consistently, I get a pretty consistent cook every time I use it. There’s no weird taste, and the non-stick coating works really well, I just soak it in cold water and it basically cleans itself. I use a little bit of dish soap and scrub it lightly once it has soaked, so I don’t get any build up. I’ve never burnt my rice with this and it’s also never leaked. Sometimes I forgot to change the little pocket thing at the back, that can get a little grimy if you forget to clean it.

The Aroma ARC-914SBD is an excellent rice and steam cooker—fast, easy to use, and keeps rice fluffy and warm for hours. Great value and perfect for daily meals!

I cooked Yellow and brown rice. It worked good. Hir brown rice for the yellow rice and all was good. I forgot to turn it off so it burned a small spot. Once I got the hang of it, it was definitely a great addition to the kitchen arsenal of tools for efficiency.
I had to return the first one. It cam with a big dent in it. Box was damaged. Returned and replaced. Second box was damaged too, but cooker was ok. Need more quality control. ? I would never buy a product from store with a box in those conditions.

It works exactly as advertised. It is a great product that I will recommend to everyone interested in having a perfectly cooked rice. The price is a little high, but, in the end acceptable. I owned and used other Aroma products and all of them worked great. Since I got the rice cooker, I switched all my starch intake to rice, it’s that good. I use the Thai Jasmine rice.
It’s the fluffiest and properly seasoned it taste great.

This rice cooker has been an excellent purchase. It cooks rice evenly and it always comes out perfect—fluffy and never sticky. It’s very easy to use and clean, plus it doesn’t take much space in the kitchen. Since I got it, making rice has been effortless. Highly recommended!

Okay. I’ll give it five stars based on the rice it produces and easy of use and design. It does indeed make pretty much perfect rice, white, brown, wild, etc. as well as other grains. It comes with a little measuring cup. The water level marks inside (none too easy to see, are calibrated for the number of these little cups of grain you use. But the cup is about 3/4 cup, Why? Because that’s 1-gou, the standard Japanese rice serving measure. But that’s no big deal. Nor is it a problem that the water marks inside are hard to read. Just use one measure of water to one measure of rice. I know. That’s different from your usual ratio for stovetop rice.
There’s a little bit of learning to do at first. I use more water with brown rice, more like 1.5 water to one brown rice. And some rice is drier than other rices, and need more water. I find that you can have a little more water, but you don’t want to have too little, because the rice will be less than fully prepared. For instance, I forgot about the little measuring cup and absentmindedly used a full one cup measure but added water to the line for two gou. I got slightly underdone rice.
Remember that the cooker knows when the water has been absorbed. Rice cookers work because, so long as there is free water in the pot, the temperature cannot rise above 212F (at sea level). So all the pot need do is stop cooking and reduce temperature to warm when the pot temperature rises about 212F. That’s why it works for all grains. And that means the cooker doesn’t really know when the rice is done, only when the water is gone.
Now, you will see all sorts of different ratios recommended by rice cooker recipes and for different cookers. Lots of people use 1.5:1 for white rice. Quinoa is happier with a 2:1 ratio. Anything reasonably close will work, so long as you use enough water for the grain to be fully cooked when the water is gone. If you use a little more water than you needed, it will go on cooking until absorbed. The worst that will happen is that it might get a little softer than you’d like. And you can even fix it when you open the pot and find it isn’t quite done. Just add a bit more water and start the cycle again. The cooker will still know when that water is absorbed. That’s the lovely thing about a rice cooker. It can sort of peak under the lid for you, plus it doesn’t have to be watched.

The added steamer on top is an absolute game changer in my opinion. It adds a really good flavor to the rice if you place kabobs or meat on top of the rice. It makes it really really tasty. The rice cooker feels like it is high quality and durable and makes perfect rice. Much better cooked rice than the cheap rice cookers you can get from walmart. Cable is long enough and it fits on kitchen counter. I have mainly used it for rice cooking and steaming, haven’t tested the other functionalities.
