Functional, but sub par quality, crack in steel where it’s forged in the corner. It will work until I find a quality one locally. …..Update after about an hour of use the tool pulled out from the handle, cheap garbage.

This little this works great! It came pretty sharp, but a few passes with a file, and it’s even better. If for some reason this one walks off, I’ll definitely buy another one.

I didn’t know what to expect. The thing looked cool and the price was low enough I didn’t mind getting something I may not use much. Turns out I’ll probably have this thing with me all over the yard!!!. I got the 18 inch, it’s perfect, for me. Gets to the root of weeds. Also does a good job clearing my Victorian edges and weeds in cracks… it’s become an important tool and way more useful than I thought. Mine seems well built, sturdy. They’re supposed to be light, you have to touch up the edge often, part of life with carbon steel. Clean and oil it after use. I’m not super confident that my son will have it passed to him, but it should last a good while if taken care of.

It’s hand forged and rough ground from cheap steel. For its use and quality, this is a great value. I would give this three stars for quality of forging and materials, five stars for value, and four for durability and ease of sharpening (it does not have good edge retention, but then again these things go in for hard use). If you plan to use this in very rocky/hard soil, or near rocks or concrete, then consider getting a high quality metal file and a coarse sharpening stone or puck for putting a working edge back on after you (inevitably) chip the edge. It’s not hard to remove metal, so sharpening this thing is worth doing. In my opinion, this tool is not well suited to very thick, clay-like soils, especially damp clay; you’ll want to use this for well-aerated and broken up soil for best results.

Blade seems to need to be sharpened does not cut weeds. Was not able to cut even small weeds. I would not recommend this as I am returning it and hoping I can just get a regular sod weed cutter. Honestly it was not effective and slowed the whole process of doing lawn work longer. At times when holding the weeds and using this inwas worried I would injury myself as there is no grip to hold and easily slips through your fingers. The blade is not sharp whatsoever and the quality is poor.
