These have arrived sooner than expected and I have to say they have exceeded my expectations. They are great quality and our dog likes me using them.
Our dog was ok at the groomer until the last appointment we had before lockdown when he suddenly didn’t like the noise of the dryers etc. I was planning to start taking him again soon but I was worrying about it (and dealing with him hating the groomer on top of everything else in this pandemic just felt like too much) so thought I’d order this for now to trim his beard etc. He wasn’t having it when I tried human electric clippers we already have (maybe he’s associating that with whatever sounds he didn’t like at groomers) and I frankly don’t have the energy right now for long drawn out training.
I had tried with regular hair scissors but worried about him moving suddenly and poking him. These are a wonderful alternative! He loved getting brushed and combed so this is very easy to incorporate into that. I just brush him them comb him with the attachment on the scissors then after a minute cut the hair. He doesn’t care at all and sits still. When I stop he asks for more combing ha ha.
The little set of scissors included is very useful too for around his eyes and toes etc.
Our dog is 3/4 lab and 1/4 poodle and weirdly his hair only grows long on his face, bottom and paws so it feels like this set is going to take the place of the groomer for me – even if things go back to normal.
If our dog needed his whole body cut all the time it would maybe be different. Although if I had a dog that needed that and other ways weren’t working I’d definitely give it a go with these, it would just take a while. Just don’t expect it to be as easy as with electric clippers! These are just well made scissors with safety ends and attachable guides.
I watched some of the Scaredy cut videos online before the set came and I did feel it gave me simple pointers on what to do.
Again, very glad I ordered these. Easy to use, dog likes it, and it will likely save me money. Win-win-win!
Update June 2021:
This set has been one of my best ever buys. My dog loves it, gets excited when I get it out now, and really seems to ENJOY me giving him a trim with it! I’ve given him a summer cut and he was delighted getting it done and is enjoying being cooler now. I have got better using it over time too. Really pleased.

This company really stands behind their product; after I expressed my dissatisfaction with the trimmer, they immediately addressed my concerns by giving my a refund and offering me further instructions as well as a replacement trimmer. I’m impressed by that level of customer service and I truly think this is a good company that produces quality products (as I said in my original review, I love their Scaredy Cut Tiny Trim scissors). In my particular case, I was not able to use the trimmer satisfactorily (I couldn’t complete step 4–evening out the fur with rapid cuts–even though I read the instructions and watched the instructional video multiple times). I opted not to accept the replacement trimmer because I don’t want to take the chance of messing up my cat’s fur again, but I am very satisfied with the company’s prompt and polite resolution of the situation.

I wanted to like this tool, I really did. I have the Scaredy Cut Tiny Trim scissors and I love them, so when I saw this I thought it would be a wonderful way to easily and inexpensively groom my long-haired cat myself. Spoilers: it wasn’t.
The pros of this tool is that it is not bothersome or alarming to the animal.
The cons are that I gave my cat a bowl cut. A BOWL CUT.
Have you seen Jim Carrey in Dumb and Dumber? That’s what my beautiful cat looked like. The directions say that this rough, ragged look is a normal stage in the process; in the last step, you’re supposed to effortlessly glide in with the trimmer and snip-snip-snip the fur into a lovely, short, uniform cut like the animals’ in the product video, but that didn’t work out for me. I felt so bad about making my cat look like a social reject that I had to take him to the groomer’s so they could fix it.
The only groomer’s office that was open for me to drop him off at before work was PetSmart, and they only do Lion Cuts on cats. Have you seen a Lion Cut on a cat before? Go on, Google it–I’ll wait here. Ok, did you see it? Horrible, right? It’s flat-out ugly. My little guy was walking around with a shaved body and fur booties for months until all his fur grew in again. In this time period I bought a lot of festive sweaters for him to cover up what I’d done.
Maybe an expert animal groomer can use this tool with confidence and get great results, but I can’t. It was a costly mistake.

I’ve been clipping my own dogs for more than twenty years, and have been using a combination of scissors and electric clippers to do so. But my retired service dog, a shih tzu, has become very sensitive to and fearful of the sound and feel of the electric clippers. She’s deaf, developing tunnel vision and has a severe heart murmur. This combination of factors causes her to pass out and/or have seizures when she’s exposed to physical and/or emotional stress. Since she can no longer hear a baseline of sounds to allow her to filter out what’s threatening and what’s not, the clippers cause her a great deal of stress… and that causes me a great deal of stress! The physical condition for which I have a service dog is exacerbated by stress, so grooming has become a bad time for both of us… and for my present, working service dog, as he is trained to react to my stress. Bad scene, all around!

I wasn’t sure they were anything more than a gimmick, but the problem was dire enough that I was willing to risk it.
As it turns out, they don’t stress my old girl. I can get into places with them that were awkward and/or impossible with the electric clippers. I no longer have to pull out clippers, comb and scissors: these little scissor/clippers are all of those things combined. As I’m clipping around her feet (I like to give her Teddy Bear feet which require a scissored guide cut around the outside bottom of the paws) I can flip the clippers over and use them as plain scissors without having to let go of her foot and transfer from clipper to scissor. I don’t have to hold a comb in one hand and the scissors in the other in the fiddly places where her hair won’t stay fluffed out for the scissors cut. She does have hair, rather than fur, and these do a more precise job of cutting than clippers. They’re easier and more precise to use around her eyes and in her hygiene areas than electric clippers. The tension on them is easier to adjust than on the electric clippers and they’re easier to clean than the electric clippers.
Although I don’t like to clip dirty fur, I can with these. This is important for those times, like today, when she can’t handle the stress of a wet bath, but she still needs some clipping. The electric clippers leave too much behind then. These clippers did an excellent job; and I can, when I need to, sharpen them myself.
And last, but by no means least, these are so easy to pull out and use on the fly that I can take a few clips here and there on those spots that require more frequent attention (face, bangs, hygiene areas, paws)… no more, “Oh! Her face needs attention but we don’t have time to pull out the clippers and go through all the ordeal and aftermath of a clipping session!”
I also have a large cat who can’t always get his nether areas completely clean. Clippers and cats, obviously, are not a happy combination. These work well for him, too.
In fact, I would recommend these for use with children who have sensory issues as well.

J’ai eu du mal à l’utiliser sur mes chiens car ils avaient des sous-poils très épais. Si vous tenez les cheveux dans la main et que cela aide mais il faut faire attention de ne pas se couper les doigts. Je pense que ce serait beaucoup plus facile pour les chiens qui ne sont pas doublement traités. C’est quand même un outil utile une fois maîtrisé.

This kit worked great with my terrier who is a rescue and is afraid of her own shadow right now. She settles down and enjoys the attention, although she gets a bit too comfortable and falls asleep! lol…at least I can trim one side while she is sleeping. It does take some practice to build skill with the scissor and guide.
I had a small issue and contacted the company. EXCELLENT customer support and quick response, don’t be shy to contact them if needed, you won’t be sorry you did.

This product is outstanding for many reasons and I had read all of the reviews before ordering it. It arrived quickly, much sooner than Amazon’s estimated delivery date and I used it on my beloved shitzu as soon as it arrived.
I couldn’t believe how easy, efficient, cost effective and peaceful the trimming session proceeded. It took me less than half hour and when I was done, it was hard to differentiate between my at home trim and the $80 trim I would have paid the groomer. It wasn’t perfect but my baby Jasti looked pretty good!
The $32 grooming set already saved me $80 and that is with just one trim so far.
I did make the silly mistake of not holding the shears with the comb side facing her skin but she was okay and other than that, she actually fell asleep during the grooming session.
Check this out: no more driving to the groomer, no more spending tons of money, no more struggling to find time to bring her for a trim! I love this product and the customer service is prompt, helpful and very responsive. The creator of this amazing product is a genius and has made my life, and my shitzu’s quality of life, so much better. Don’t hesitate to buy this, it costs nothing when you consider that it practically trims your pet with no cost other than the grooming shears. And the attachment combs are a nice perk. I feel that this company deserves more recognition…..
