Ok first time nail clipper reviewing here. Let me tell you all, it was so easy! I have 2 chi mixed 9 month old siblings, 1 is 5 lbs the other is about 9 lbs. since we’ve been quarantined for over 2 months here in New Jersey, I didn’t want to bother the vet for a trim right now (which is where I usually have them done). Every day I kept looking at their nails, it was almost 3 months since the last trim and I knew I had to do something about it. Despite my fear, I came on Amazon to search products & look through reviews. I found this trimmer for smaller animals & thought it would be better since my pups don’t have thick nails like bigger dogs. I was scared to do it but it was so easy! I know about the quick – my pups have some nails that are black which makes it difficult to see the quick. So I followed the advice of my vet only trimming a little bit every 2 weeks. For 2 pups that don’t like having their paws handled for more than a few seconds, I was able to put them in my lap and trim their nails within 5-10 minutes max. The nail trimmer was comfortable and easy to handle, the blades were sharp I didn’t have any difficulties making the trim, and I also appreciated the little pamphlet that directed me on which angle to cut the nails. I highly recommend!! If you’re doing this for the 1st time yourself, this product makes it so easy! Just be careful of the quick (if you snip it, it hurts your animal & it’ll bleed). Now I’m not terrified of doing it anymore – the whole process times 2 was very easy! My pups didn’t need many breaks b/c I was able to go from nail to nail with ease but if your pup or animal (rabbit whatever) gets upset, just give it a minute, give kisses & calm it down, then resume. I’m so happy I purchased this & my babies nails are finally trimmed… will recommend this to everyone I know with smaller breed dogs.

Quick Review: Cuts clean, easy to place on the nails, quiet, and a fantastic size for chihuahuas.
After a few trips to the groomer and a cut quick, I decided to cut my little guy’s nails myself. The first “small dog” clippers I bought shredded his nails and were extremely loud. After searching on Amazon, I settled on these and couldn’t be happier! These are quiet, easy to grip, and I feel very safe using them because they fit nicely around the nail. I love that I can control how much they open so I get a tight grip around the nail before cutting. The first clippers I got had a guard that also caught the nail, while these don’t have that “feature” they are easier to use without a guard. Two of my dog’s nails were cut with the bad clippers, the rest were with these and I never cut the quick (first time ever cutting a dog’s nails). Love these!

These are small but very durable. Quiet to use and work well on my small dogs

This is the best that I have had because it is small, light, and thin that makes it easy to cut my mixed chihuahua that is about 15 lb. This clipper is perfect size for my dog. I put her in the Top Performance Cat Grooming Bag during the day near the window so that I could see her nail beds. I cut far away from her nail beds for safety. I also had the Miracle Styptic Gel at the same place just in case. Therefore, I am content because I could be able to cut her nails easily. After I cut her nails, I gave her hugs, kisses, and many sweet talking. I wish I had a treat ready. I will do that next time then. It saves me time, effort, and money to take her to the grooming place. Thank you for the fantastic clipper.

Will always have a pair or 2 or 3 of these nail trimmers. Quality. Easy use. Efficient. Comfortable. Affordable. I have only used them on small dogs.

Ok. So like another reviewer said, these will come in packaging that says “Cat Nail Clippers”. I docked a star because of the misleading label. Yes, it is possible to use on small breed dogs which is why I bought it. I have a cat, so I’ll save myself the hassle of returning them; but I’m disappointed because I wanted something that would take care of both animals. The area where the nail goes, in my opinion, is too small for my Chihuini’s nails. Some nails barely fit in that little area. Yes, you can make it work (as you can read from other reviewers’ comments). But is it ideal for a dog? No. Not unless the dog is a “tea cup” sized dog. IMHO
The product itself serves its purpose. Comfort, ease of use – great. Price – awesome. Advertising was misleading. A shame really. All they need to do is just make it a little bit bigger and they really could HONESTLY advertise it as a small pet clipper “up to 15/20 lbs” – problem solved.
Hope this review helps someone make the right decision for their pets.

Have tried mutiple different nail clippers including others of this style. It is very hard to cut my dogs’ dew claws as they curl around and nothing fits well. I have a chihuahua mix and another poi dog (mix breed) who is 30 lb with thicker nails. I bought this brand as it was recommended by the vet tech at our vet clinic. Not disappointed. They are sharp and work well, and small enough that I can see around them and they fit in their dew claws. Definitely worth it.

Did not work out for me because they’re too small too short and it is tough to cut the larger claws that old cab may have. Works fine for the very tips if you can get your fingers through the handles okay these are very short and little clumsy for me.
