I tested a lot of headsets during covid when I was teaching online. At that time the BlackShark was imo one of the best combinations of good price and sound quality/mic quality. I was excited to try this new version after all the positive reviews I was saying.

Out of the Box I immediately thought this version had a more ‘quality’ feel to it- it is heavier, the plastic feels more solid/the construction doesn’t have a lot of give/squeak to it the way the other headphones did. They fit well on my head which is pretty large, and wearing them for 5-6 hours didnt give me giant depressions on my skull or a headache from the fit/weight.

I use them to play games and for zoom meetings/lectures so I care about the sound quality and the mic quality and both are excellent. The spatial sound is much better on these than other gaming headphones I have used and the mic comes through much clearer, though it is quiet like other Razer mics in the past.

Fit well, sound good, but mic shuts off after an hour or so while using discord, which then forces you to cycle the power on the headset to get the mic working again. Then Amazon charges you to return a product that doesn’t work. that is a first for me. Especially when it is sold by them. Anyways, I would wait before purchasing as they already had one firmware fix to get the mic workings properly, and they now need a second to stop it from turning off. Check youtube for reviews and you learn about the mic issues.

Let me preface this review stating that I’ve tried Razer headsets in the past and they have always been pretty mediocre to bad.
I have been on the look out for a wireless headset for gaming and discord. It would be nice if the quality was nice enough that I could use it for movies or music as well.
I tried the ASUS Delta IIs, and while they were light and okayish, they hurt my head at the headband area after a few hours.
I own a pair of Sennheiser HD650s with a dac/amp combo that is a 10/10 on the audio quality scale.
I tried the Audeze Maxwells and while the audio quality was 10/10, the mic quality was like a 3/10. It was also very heavy and uncomfortable after a while.
I next tried the Hyper X Cloud 3 wireless. I was set on using these as the quality was about a 6/10, but very good for gaming, I could hear footsteps very well. They were also light and VERY comfortable. The mic was also surprisingly very good.
As a last comparison, I picked up a pair of Blackshark V3 Pros. I am blown away. The audio quality is very good. I would put it at a 9/10. They are light and very comfortable. The earcups are super breathable. A feature I never used before was bluetooth to my phone and 2.4ghz to my computer. I don’t think I could own a headset without this feature in the future. The mic quality is very good. Although not as good as my Shure condensor mic, it holds it’s own very good. The wireless range is also very good.
Overall I think this is one of the best gaming headsets you can buy.

One glaring flaw!
Overall, it’s a very nice headset, but there is a built-in “feature” that is so bad that I almost sent these back. I noticed it right off the start while testing them with YouTube. When starting a video, the sound fades in which is annoying, but it does so for every video as well as every time I skip around in a video thereby missing some conversation. I have no trouble playing a game, so it only annoys me with videos. However, this “feature” should have a disable option, unfortunately I could find no option or information on it when browsing for a solution.

Overall, I believe it’s a great headset unless you want to watch YouTube.
