I didn’t want to spend twice as much on the charging grip, and I don’t think that I would have used the charging function anyway. I purchased this grip instead, and I am very pleased with it.
The centre section is slightly wider, but only by a couple of millimetres. The handles are a bit thicker and have a slight bend in them, which makes them fit into my hands more comfortably. I have average-sized male hands. I don’t find the OEM grip uncomfortable, but I do find this grip slightly more comfortable. The underside also had a rubbery feel, which is nice.
The only small criticism that I can think of is that the rails are plastic instead of metal. But the joy-cons slide in easily and I don’t see the plastic becoming a problem. It seems sturdy enough. Also, the release button is in a little bit of a tight spot, but I don’t have any issues pressing it easily.
I have included some photos of this grip with a side-by-side comparison with the OEM grip. This grip is on the left of each photo.

Works great with my Nintendo Switch Joy-cons and was more affordable than the name brand ones. I’ve tried other off brands that didn’t quite fit the joy-cons and were uncomfortable to hold. This worked great and was comfortable to hold.

Much more comfortable than trying to use the joycons on their own. Right side is perfect, joycon slides into place smooth as butter, stays snug and secure, and slides out easily once you press the release. The left side isn’t quite as smooth, needs just a bit more force to get it in that last bit or take it out. Not too much to the point I worry about breaking the joycon or anything, but it could be smoother, and I’m sure I could file down the plastic a touch and get it to slide in perfectly. I’m sure this is something that varies from unit to unit. But when in use it’s very comfortable, and you can thankfully still feel the rumble which is nice. Back has a bunch of visible screw holes, though they don’t get in the way or are noticeable when being held.
For the price it’s a solid option, though you may need to manually work on it a bit if one side feels a bit too snug when inserting or removing joycons.

It’s durable. I needed something because I really got tired of holding the single joy con controller in my hand while I play the game. But, I dislike how when you put the two controllers in the slot it slides out easy. Especially playing sonic racers. I get disconnected from the controller all the time. I find it annoying.
