So happy with this! Pricey, but so far worth it! I’ve been using it for about eight months and it’s very grippy! It definitely smelled a bit when I got it and I had to just kind of air it out, but the smell went away. Be sure to air it out before taking it to a class, though or around other people! I feel that on rare occasions it does seem to be slipping a little bit, but I think it’s if my hands are too wet. Also if I am doing a home practice and my hands are super dry it can be a little slippy. After heavy, hot yoga use and rolling it up immediately after class and not airing it out as much as I should it has started to smell a little bit but that’s probably on me for not cleaning it as much as I should.

This thing is heavy, sticky even when the room is not that warm, and squishy enough to provide some padding but does not slide all over the floor. I have always wanted one of these mats and I’m so glad I finally have one. It’s very well made and a little on the larger side which makes it nice to practice on.

This review as much to current Amazon stock issues for this mat as the mat itself. I ordered this mat twice as a gift, and both times received a brand new, unopened Manduka eKo Superlite yoga mat instead. While this is likely a very nice travel mat, it is not what I ordered. I returned both mats and sent the intended recipient the funds to purchase the mat elsewhere instead.

I am told that the mat is just as described, with good thickness and weight. The black marbled mat is attractive. It has a good grip from the start, a cushiony and satiny feel, and is easy to use when cleaning, rolling, and storing. There was a mild rubbery smell at first noticeable only at very short distance from the mat, which dissipates over time. It feels durable and sturdy, and sticks where it is put without difficulty when it comes time to move it. It does squeak periodically during use and developed streaks in the first few days of ordinary use from yoga blocks running across the surface. Neither of these issues diminish enjoyment of the mat, but it is good to know if they will bother you.
