This watch is just what I was looking for, as it looks beautiful, the band is sleek and extremely comfortable, and the watch face is streamlined; plus there are many watch faces to choose from whenever you feel like it; it isn’t too heavy, it’s accurate, I feel that it is a good value for the money, the connection is appreciated, it does need to be charged frequently but that’s the only downside (in my case once a day on average but does charge quickly). I chose this particular watch because of the added safeguards; it has fall detect (I got diagnosed with P.O.T.S so there is always a chance that I could pass out) ECG whenever my heart seems to be acting weird for added peace of mind, crash detect which is always a nice bonus, I have had a FITBIT for over 10 years (not the same one:) ) and I have found that all in all they are great watches and I really like the FITBIT app; so this time I thought that I would try GOOGLE and I am glad that I did.

This is a fantastic watch. I’ve been a long-time Fossil smartwatch user. My Fossil Gen 6 watch started acting up, and I recently learned that Fossil has exited smartwatches. Once I switched to the Pixel 3, I was thrilled and do not miss my Gen 6 at all. I should have switched sooner.
My 2nd Fossil replacement alternative was the OnePlus 2. The Pixel looked better (to me) and has Wear OS 5 which is the most recent version. It was hard to decide between the two using online descriptions and reviews, but I am happy with my choice. The Pixel battery life is better than the Fossil, even with the always on display, and easily gets me though the day. The charge may not last as long as the OnePlus 2, but I do not wear it overnight and instead put the watch on the charger, so the extra battery life is not an issue for me. Others may see this differently.
The Pixel 3 screen is MUCH brighter and sharper than the Fossil, the processor is faster, and the watch operation is intuitive and easy to learn. Activating the watch, setting it up, and switching from the Fossil was quick and easy since most of the apps and info are tied to my Google account.
Long-time irritants with the Fossil were how the end of the watch band kept flopping loose from its holder band, and how the crown button constantly activated when I sharply bent my wrist. The Pixel fixes both of these issues. The Pixel watch band is a bit tricky to attach at first (YouTube helps), but it works MUCH better than the Fossil and is more comfortable. The Pixel has a nice feature where you can rotate the watch display 180 degrees (make it upside down) so you can wear the crown button on the left side of the watch. No more accidental app activations, restarts, or 911 calls!
My primary watch use is for business to monitor emails and texts, and to see/screen/take phone calls. All these work beautifully, and are handled much better than with the Fossil. Even the weather app is upgraded in the new OS, and there is a timer that can be added to the tiles. I use my watch secondarily for the health features, and I was sad (at first) to learn Google Fit would not be on the Pixel. I used Fit on the Fossil to track steps and distance walked. The new FitBit basic version is a true upgrade and gives me all the info I had before, plus a lot more. I did not opt for the free Premium FitBit trial.
I bought and recommend a set of the plastic watch covers for scratch and impact protection, and a charging stand. Both work great.

I was very excited to receive my Watch 3 and was impressed by the feel of quality and the very useful snap on watch face protector, but after 3 days I just got authorization to return it.
I turns out that because of Samsung’s One UI 7.0 stable implementation many s23 watches are unable to connect to the Pixel Watch 3. They can pair via Bluetooth, but receiving calls is the only functionality that works, and without connection and access to the Pixel Watch app on the phone, any other functionality of the watch beyond receiving calls is not available.
My suggestion would be to find a friend with a Pixel Watch 3 and try to connect to it. You probably can stop before entering your Google account information and feel confident of a workable connection, but do not assume your S23 will work before ordering the phone.
This information comes from 2 hours of gracious and competent Best Buy assistance and a full review through Claude AI (I used Claude for the documentation reviews, beyond the topical information reviews used by ChatGPT).

It’s a beautiful and accurate smartwatch. Google has great taste in plentiful watch faces. I started using my always on display & I’m now getting thirty hours or more battery on my Pixel watch 3. I’m impressed! It also fast charges & notifies my Google pixel 9 phone when fully charged. I’m very happy with my purchase.

So far so good.

Purrr-fectly integrated with your pixel phone, Fitbit app, and Wear-OS compatible phones. Sync’s great operationally so you can set it to dismiss alerts on either your phone or the watch – no double-display or dismiss required. The excellence of Fitbit tracking, including all the fitness features you expect, heart rate, blood oxygen level, sleep tracking, and more. Get the larger screen model, you’ll be glad you did. Excellent gym/workout companion – keep your phone in your pocket. Biking? Nav on your wrist, make/take calls over Bluetooth without touching your phone. Keep the display on all day if you want, or auto-off. Tons of watch faces.

I like this watch however it is not without fault. It’s very stylish so I like it for that reason. It’s clear and keeps accurate time, but that’s only secondary to what it’s designed for. Honestly, I’m not sure how to gauge accuracy on some aspects, but in terms of my heart rate, I think it’s pretty good. Some other features, not so much. There is a stress and mindfulness feature that allows you to record your stress levels. It tells me that it’s detected a potential change in my emotional state when I have no idea why. Then when I’m happy or mad, I get no notification. It’s a little large, but I also have a small wrist. I think all these watches are too expensive, but the price is at least competitive. I like all the features like the ability to answer the phone thru it and controlling your music thru it. I have a Pixel phone, so they work hand in hand with each other. If I think of anything else, I’ll be certain to add it.
