I’m really impressed with these Oakley Meta HSTN glasses. The design is sleek and modern, while still being lightweight and very comfortable to wear for long periods. The lenses are crystal clear and provide excellent protection from glare, making them perfect for both everyday use and outdoor activities.

The build quality feels premium — solid but not heavy. The included case and cleaning bag are a nice touch and keep everything protected when I’m not wearing them. I’ve received multiple compliments already, and they definitely stand out compared to other frames.

If you’re looking for a pair of glasses that combine style, durability, and comfort, I highly recommend these. Oakley nailed it with this design!

The video stabilization is great, the standard video mode is amazing. Very clear and easy videos…. The AI is great and very accurate, and the sound QUALITY is a lot better than I thought it would be with the size of the speakers. Very well done.

Excellent piece of technology. Actually more stylish than I first thought. The battery life is excellent for what it is although if recording videos it does not last as long as advertised. I fit in 12x 3 min video recordings before needing to return to case. Camera quality is amazing. An example of a cricket game I played is included on its battery saving quality.

I’ve been using these Meta HSTN glasses for about a week, and they’re excellent. They’re perfect for point-of-view filming – the video quality is good, and the stabilization is decent enough.

The sound quality is impressive. At around half volume, people around you can’t even tell you’re listening to music, which makes them very convenient for everyday use. The auto-dimming lenses are also a great feature, adapting well to light conditions.

Overall, a really solid pair of smart glasses that work as advertised.

Okay I’m going to put some effort into this review because I been eying this for some time now. Here we go!

    Initial Impression
I was disappointed at first because the pair sent to me were used when I paid for brand new. The product packaging was already opened and not attached. The battery tab was already removed and the glasses were paired to another account. It let me factory wipe them and pair to mine an Amazon made the situation right with a partial credit so I was happy.

    Feel of the Glasses
The glasses are thicker than normal sunglasses, especially by Oakley standard, but that is expected since they have to build the actual smart functions inside the frame. Overall it felt fine on my head. I’m a bigger guy and the glasses fit well. I was nervous because I saw reviews that said they were too small. I’m 6’1, 300lbs and I have no issue.

    Lens Transitioning
This is my first main disappointment. I saw people say how they didn’t protect against the sun as much as they hoped and I echo that statement. The lens also don’t fully transition to how the stock image looks and takes about 5 minutes to even start to darken. The attached images were after going for a 30 minute walk at 8:30-9 AM this morning when the sun was shining brightly. I wish they could be better at blocking the light once transitioned.

    Camera
The camera is amazing. The video and picture quality is perfect. I can’t say much more about it. I wouldn’t change a thing!

    Sound
The sound is great as well! If you have it turned up people will hear your speaker if they are next to you but at a mid level it is hardly noticeable to outside people at all.

    Functionality
I love the features it provides. Live AI is awesome since you do not had to keep saying “Hey Meta.” You can simply ask it questions while running. The AI could use some work but as with all AI’s they are works in progress. The glasses are updatable and get new features added with updates so I’m excited to see where it all can lead.

    Battery
The battery seems to be lacking. I was at 100% this morning and played music during my walk and it ended up hitting 80% after about 25 minutes. This was my first real use though so I’m going to give the battery another test after a few days in case any background updates or syncing or anything else was going on.

    Overall
I think the glasses are pretty good. I’d say it’s more on the high end of 3 star and if the lenses could transition faster and darker that could bump it up to a 4 or 5. Since I got a partial refund for them being a return (which could also play a factor in my battery life) I think the value for my money was good but would have been a little bummed if I had spent the full amount. Will update as I use them more and after any new updates that come out! They are a new product so I’m sure there will be growing pains so I’m excited to see where they end up!

This product was awesome. I found that for someone who can wear larger glasses, they would work well. For my face i thought they were slightly too big. They were comfortable to wear, they weren’t heavy at all with all of the electronics in it. The lenses were very clear and usable, but the transitions struggled to keep my eyes shaded. I still found myself squinting while outside in the sun. I love these glasses, but I dod exchange them for the smaller framed Wayfair models for no other reason except for the style fitting me more than the HSTN.

People will be critical of these glasses but they have proven to be the best pair of glasses I own. I can hear my podcasts and music. Music is not something that these shine in and that’s understandable based on the speaker setup. They are comfortable and fit a normal sized face. If you’re heavy then they will not be comfortable. I’m sorry. The battery life is acceptable for what these do and the weight of them. The recordings are clear. The pics are clear. The Meta ask functions are amazing.

This is the first pair of Oakley glasses I’ve ever tried and this is the Meta HSTN version with builtin Meta AI creating a “Performance AI” product aimed at athletes and fans.

    – Meta is the new name for the company behind Facebook
    – AI (Artificial Intelligence) is the technology builtin the glasses and the Meta AI app on your phone
    – HSTN is an Oakley lifestyle frame style

What you get in the box:
    – Charging case for the glasses
    – A pair of HSTN Meta AI glasses
    – Cleaning Cloth
    – Get Started Booklet
    – Safety & Warranty booklet

The Glasses have a builtin 12MP camera, microphone, open-ear speakers, battery with 8 hours of typical usage and 32 GB of internal storage. The case has a builtin battery with 48 hours of on the go charging capacity for the Glasses, a USB-C charging port, a control button and a LED Battery level light. Also, when going outside in the sun, they transform into sunglasses.

    Getting Started:

First scan a QR code to get started, which will open the app store or play store to download and install the Meta AI app.

Charge the case before use, with a USB-C Cable and USB-C Power Adapter, both not included.

Once LED Battery light is green, case is fully charged. You can then open the case, and wear the Glasses and begin the setup process of the Glasses and the Meta AI app, as both work together, so the app will need to be configured first.

Ideally, setup 2 networks, one WiFi when you are at home and a WiFi Hotspot on your phone, this way you will always have a network available for the glasses.

Basic commands are available on the Glasses to take photos and record videos, control a configured music streaming service to play/pause/next/back/volume+/-, take calls etc.

You can also use hands free voice commands (this is the Meta AI feature) to do all of the above to control the glasses, but where it gets really interesting is when you start using the Meta AI to the full extent and do things you would normally do with your phone such as, look up information online, make a note (this is called a reminder), take photos and videos and send any of these to someone in a messaging app etc.

You can be walking down the street and just say “Hey Meta” take photo and send to someone and it will do this, same with a video or say “Hey Meta” record voice message and then send to someone, all with simple voice commands.

Photos and videos are saved in the internal storage of the glasses and later imported to the Meta AI app for AI processing and/or saving.

Note: The AI processing is a cool feature that transforms your photos and videos using AI to create fun photos.

You can listen to music from a streaming service and control everything with your voice, totally hands free. Ask to play an album, song or a playlist.

You can ask Meta AI to read a book and it will do so if the audible app is installed.

Note: The current apps supported by Meta AI are, Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Music, Audible and Shazam and all require a valid subscription to properly work with the glasses, but Shazam works free of charge.

But it gets better, you can ask Meta AI questions and it will do its best to answer correctly totally hands free, just be precise and patient when asking questions.

So I had fun asking Meta AI to take a photo and tell me what it was (didn’t always get good answers), remind me of something in 3 hours, or send a message to someone while I’m driving.

When I want to explain something visually to someone, I can take hands free photos and videos and explain what I’m doing, as I’m doing it and send it to someone instantly.

There is also a translation feature where you can ask Meta AI to translate two languages live (need to pre-install languages first). For example, when you speak in English, the words appear in the Meta AI app, and are translated in the second language, the other person reads and replies, the text appears in the Meta AI app, but you also hear the translation in the Glasses, so on and so forth, as the conversation goes, it just takes practice to understand how it works.

A Talk feature, in an experimental phase, allows you to talk to Meta AI and have it reply back with answers in a fluid conversational manner, as if you are having a conversation with someone who is explaining something to you. It works quite well, and is an interesting feature to try.

The uses are endless and will only get better as the Meta AI improves.

    But is it perfect, NO.

The Meta AI still needs a-lot of work to maintain a history of questions asked in a conversation and follow thru with responses. Too many times I’ve asked questions, had a response from Meta AI and then continue my questions and the first response is not stored and re-used to continue the conversation. I think it will take time for me to learn how to properly interact and let Meta AI do its thing with the capacity it has.

It’s unable to interact with apps it’s not designed to work with or modify things in apps it is designed to work with, for example, I can’t ask Meta AI to create or edit a playlist in Spotify, I must do this manually in the app. I can’t ask it to create or modify a note in my notes app, I must vocally save reminders with Meta AI.

Sometimes it doesn’t know the answer, doesn’t understand a question or gives a wrong answer to a question. It’s a learning process for users and Meta AI as well.

So as long as you use the Glasses and Meta AI to it’s current capacity, it is a fun and learning experience to do things differently, and gives you freedom that you wouldn’t normally have by physically interacting with a phone.

Note: When recording videos (1080P or 3K) frames are limited to 30FPS, and I noticed that the format is fixed to a portrait mode, ideal for posting on social media platforms and not landscape mode which I could want to use elsewhere.

I can see myself doing various activities outside and have the ability to take photos and videos instantly, record messages, save reminders and listen to music in the background and still hear what’s happening around me and all of this hands free.

Note: It can be challenging to use in noisy environments.

The Glasses can also provide visually impaired users with the ability to have access to online information with Meta AI, listen to music, send voice messages etc.

I’m sure I can find different and interesting ways to use the Glasses on a daily basis and will discover this overtime.

The one thing that is a problem for me is wearing the glasses on top of prescription glasses that I must wear to see properly. I created an account on the Oakley website and noticed while browsing that Oakley offers the possibility of changing the lenses for prescription lenses, so I’ll have to see how I can do this.

I included a bunch of Meta AI generated images of myself, simply telling the Meta AI app what I wanted using my face as an example. Images generate in less than 15 seconds.

Unable to serve its most basic function as sunglasses. The transition lenses only transition in color for fashion purposes but the sun was still too bright for my eyes, while even a $10 no brand pair of sunglasses work just fine for me. No transition at all through glass, meaning if you’re driving, good luck.

I wasn’t able to pair the Meta app to my glasses either, using both the case and glasses functions. I can’t even drop this off at UPS store without having to print my own label. Absolute waste of time.

I’m an artist and bought this for filming the production process inside and outside. Also wanted to use a single sunglasses for all purposes. It’s ok as clear normal glasses for interior but Surprise! It doesn’t work well as a sunglasses.

The glasses are transitioning only with UV light. Meaning that if you’re driving, since the windshield and car windows block UV, the glasses do NOT transition. Even if it does, just basic shades as 10%. To summarize, the clear/transitioning versions are only sunglasses if you are just walking on the street on a sunny day. Otherwise, they’re just useless.
