This thing is seriously impressive. I mean it, crisp clear highs and mids. Deep powerful lows (bass). It is very portable but do not mistake it for an 80s / early 90s “boom box”, it is much more solidly built. It is a bit on the heavy side but that is a net positive as it definitely has some large magnets on the woofers to provide the thump that it does. Not only is the sound quality top notch but it’s also equally top notch at high volumes. Absolutely love it.

I recently purchased this JBL speaker and the experience has been excellent. I spent a lot of time comparing portable Bluetooth speakers. I was looking for a speaker that had plenty of bass. It is hard to determine if a speaker has good bass or not. Online reviews are often misleading, and many companies (like Sony and Bose) don’t publish a speaker’s frequency response range. JBL does, and this speaker has a range of 40 Hz to 20k Hz. This “boombox” speaker has a great sound, plenty of base, and true stereo. This speaker is a little pricey and a bit heavy compared to other speakers (14.7 lbs.), but the quality of the sound makes it all worth it.
If you are trying to decide between this speaker and another, then visit “rtings.com” which does a nice job of comparing two different speakers. If this speaker is too heavy, then I suggest looking into the JBL Xtreme 4, which also has a good frequency response range, only weighs 4.6 lbs., and has a replaceable battery (nice).
Still, this speaker is exactly what I was looking for and I highly recommend it!

Super expensive but sounds great! I don’t regret buying it at all. But it is way more expensive than it needs to be. Battery life lasts about 3 hours when cranked up all the way. The best thing is that you can continue to use it while it is plugged in. It is waterproof and does float. Anytime it gets dirty i just rinse it off. But beware it will continue to drain water out of it for hours so don’t set it on a surface that it will ruin after you get it wet. Sound quality is very good. Bass is strong and it is very loud. If I am in the garage with the doors closed you can here it in the street so don’t under estimate it. Also you have to use the app to set it up which was kinda of dumb but it does allow you to tweak the sound which was a very nice feature. you will notice though it lags a bit when connecting when you turn it on and when it disconnects when you shut it off which is no big deal but definitely can be improved upon. Over all for a portable speaker system there isn’t really anything out there that can touch this for sound quality, durability or how loud it can go while still have clarity. This is probably why JBL charges a serious premium for it. You will also notice it does have some weight to it so it is not something you would want to carry around all day. I also notice it does improve the sound a bit if you leave it plugged in while using it is you are going to listen to it real loud. If you buy it, you wont regret it. I sure don’t. I use it very frequently to the dismay of my neighbors

The JBL Boombox 3 is absolutely amazing. The sound quality is crystal clear with deep, powerful bass that easily fills any room or outdoor space. It delivers the kind of sound you would expect from a much larger system, all in a portable design.

There’s something lacking in each one, mostly the volume and bass quality. For working out I dance, and I like my music LOUD. This speaker is IT. It’s the only (non-club/concert) speaker I’ve ever though, wow – that’s too loud, I should turn it down. The first time I turned it on I was blown away.
It’s pretty big and heavy, but I guess that just comes with the huge amount of sound it produces. I feel like the battery life is okay. I really only use it in the house so I don’t need it to last very long. It charges relatively fast and I haven’t had any issues with connectivity. Super user friendly. It’s seriously the best (home) speaker I’ve ever heard. I’d say it’s definitely worth the price.

Love it. Great quality/sound and powerful. Excellent design and a huge plus putting the “charger” inside the equipment vs the previous version, so much easier just taking the cable by itself. Sure the equipment is a bit heavier but gives a nice feeling too. One of my fav speakers, quality, loud and super portable.
