I loved my 13 year old Whirlpool HEPA purifier so I bought this one, too.
Easy to use, just pull out of box and plug in
Crazy quiet on low, quiet but audible on medium, noisy on high and very loud on “turbo”. But yanno what? It’s loud because it’s pulling in and pushing out SO MUCH cleansed air!
There may be quieter filters with better ratings but none process so much air per hour…. just leave it on low or medium (or “auto”) and you won’t hear it. Keep it on “auto” and it only ramps up the speed if you have elevated contaminant volume in the air.
I got slate black, the unit is quite attractive!
The only issue is the nasty chemical smell when first turned on. I smell it, my partner doesn’t. So I called Whirlpool (they have a dedicated number for air purifiers) and was told the smell should go away in 24 hours but if it doesn’t go away in 3 days to call them.
I am at 20 hours, the smell is gone but it’s much reduced so we’ll see.
At one week, it looks good and performs well but the motor is audibly humming on “low” and now I worry it’ll just get worse.
Seems like a case of “cheaper in China” manufacturing for an otherwise well designed product

I have had several Air Purifiers over the years and this Whirlpool is the best Air Purifier of them all that iv owned as of this writing. It is quiet and moves LOTS of air. The Filters are of large size with more Surface Area per square inch which allows for more efficient air flow and longer life of filtering time. I do have several Air Quality Monitors that I check the air ratings throughout the house and they prove that this Whirlpool is performing well & some better than the other ones Iv owned in the past. Possibly better because of the higher volume of air flow capability this model offers. I also find that the Built-in Automatic Air Sensors work very well and are very sensitive which makes for a great feature on this model over my other ones. I like it enough to have already bought a second one so now i have two. I highly recommend this model even tho it is a bit expensive up front but over the years, this dependable brand & model should pay for itself over the health benefits it will offer to you and family. =Five easy stars.

This is the second unit that I’ve purchased. The original was several years old and the unit’s motor bearings began to make a bit of noise. The motor bearings are sealed, so I bought this replacement. It does a great job in filtering in our bed room and is quiet enough to give us a bit of fan blowing noise to provide a bit of white noise. The filter lasts us about 8 months, with it on many days and every night,. The replacement HEPA filter cost was $69.99, from Filter Monster. Whirlpool Charcoal PRE-FILTERS (Extra large) 8171510K (4 Pack). Size: 17.68 x 0.12 x 17.87 inches. ($8:70)

I purchased the one with the silver-colored grate. It looks pretty cool. Easy to move around (handle on the top) and works with a “white noise” background sound more like the sound of moving air rather than an electronic hum, which I like. As fan speed is increased, it’s more like a rushing air sound. In the few days I have had it, I have noticed a decrease in my sneezing and dry/itchy eyes, and my breathing is better despite our hot, dusty Phoenix air. Yes, it smells a little plasticky when you first run it. Put it on high and blow the stink out, it will be fine. 🙂 Also works great for sudden stinks like burned toast! Put it on high and face it towards the kitchen. Takes care of it before it gets into the rest of the house!

This air filter is amazing. I bought it for my niece who is plagued with allergies. Since using this filter her allergies are reduced to almost zero. She has told me that she has not felt this much relief for years.

I purchased this product after doing a lot of research on different air purifiers and how they are rated for different particle filtration. I wanted to find one that was effective but also not unreasonable when it came to the price point. I was not disappointed! After plugging in the air purifier and setting to auto, it ran on full blast for about 24 hours then automatically adjusted to low. I can tell a HUGE difference in the quality of the air every day when I walk in the room. I also like that it automatically adjusts settings for strong cooking odors and dust when I’m vacuuming. The only thing I want prepared for is how much space it takes up. Don’t let the picture deceive you! It is quite large. But if you have the floor space and are looking for a cost efficient and effective air purifier, I would highly recommend.

My fist unit was DOA, but thanks to Amazon painless return process I got a replacement really fast, so thank you! The unit is a bit bulky, so think about where would you put it. Works really well though, cleans the air in a large room many times over. I have allergy to house dust and cats (we have two) and this thing clears everything. No more runny nose. It also helps with flu season as it would clear the air from viruses (with HEPA filter). We bought this specifically for our little kid and he is very happy! 🙂

It’s bigger than I thought it would be. Seems to be working nicely. Main issue with the one I have is. When it’s on low/auto it’s very loud. You can hear the fan inside that spins knocking. So idk if that’s with every model or if I just got lucky. So idk if I had bought it at a store I would of returned it for in hopes a quieter one in return. But I don’t even m kw if I can return it on here for free or not. I’ll have to look into it. I will say when it’s on medium high or turbo it’s quiet ironically enough. Just a bummer I can’t use the auto feature due to the very annoying knocking noise
