A dimmer switch that fits in place of a standard toggle. These are handy for adding “stealth” upgrades. It flips on and off like a regular switch, but the small slider to the right lets you adjust how bright the lights are when on. 1 star was lost because the item is very touchy with brightness on the low (dim) end. Basically, sliding 50% from the max dims the light very little. In the last 20% it changes rapidly. I tested with dimmable LED “60W” bulbs and on all 3 modes (there’s a black slider switch on the front of the unit, and is hidden behind the faceplate you install). For anyone familiar with engineering, it is acting like the dimmer is a linear rather than log control, and since the eyes see brightness in log (multiples) the dimming doesn’t feel natural. As I said, little change at first, then suddenly the brightness goes to nothing. I’ve included two similar pictures – notice the brightness of the wall and the setting of the slider (it’s hard to see a difference in position for such a large change in brightness). Also, a note to the user, certain combinations of black configuration switch and bulb type will actually allow the slider to dim the bulb to 0 even with the switch on (it came this way out of the box and so was initially confusing). This might confuse a user, if only briefly. Adjusting the black switch will generally fix this, by putting a lower limit on the dimming level, or you can just be aware of it. I also observed that unscrewing the screws for the wiring had a lot more friction to turning the screws than I’ve seen on other switches/outlets, etc. It worked, but was surprising and initially made me think something was wrong. Also, a note to the user, the screws control the grip on the wires if you use the holes to load in the wires. Don’t ignore the screws no matter how you are mounting it. I did not test (or remove label) for 3-way mode. I decided it was good enough to leave installed, but figured a buyer would want to be aware of this fact (and perhaps the manufacturer can do a new version later).

The product description and pictures have some vague and/or misleading information. The description says a wallplate is included, it is not (as other reviewers have also noted). Also, the last promotional picture clearly says “Seamlessly adjust brightness from multiple locations” – that’s impossible with this dimmer. The correct answer lies in the written description where it says “Only one dimmer should be used in a 3-way circuit; the other switch maintains the selected brightness level.”
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve bought stuff online only to find out the instructions in the box didn’t match the description on the website. As such, I’ve included the instructions (both on the dimmer and on the included paperwork) with my attached pictures. I installed this dimmer into a switch arrangement where 3 separate switches control the same light that I wanted to dim. Those 3 switches are in a more complicated than usual arrangement and you’ll only be able to install this dimmer at the outer two (electrically speaking) of the three switch locations.
The installation of this dimmer was kind of a pain because all of the terminal screws were fully loose but also fully settled into the body of the dimmer. I initially just tried unscrewing them to get the clearance needed to attach the wires and I just about stripped the heads trying. Turns out if you turn the dimmer on its side the screws just dangle out under gravity and you end up having to hold the dimmer awkwardly, making use of gravity to get your wires seated before screwing them in. I’ve never come across something as awkward as that in all my years. Anyway, I eventually got all the wires attached. Then came the next thing – the switch part stuck out a LOT further than the switch beside it (see the picture). That’s a solvable thing by modifying the other switch and with a little drywall surgery, but by the time I was done I was a bit annoyed with how long it all took.
Anyway, the dimmer works great, the price is reasonable and the LED lights didn’t flicker but I’m knocking off a star because of the misleading product description and picture, as well as those daft terminal screws. This item was ordered on August 20 but didn’t arrive until September 12 – glad I wasn’t in a hurry to get this…

Love this invention. I buy it for every baby gift I give. So easy to install for the nursery. New moms and dads don’t need bright lights in the middle of the night to take care of their new little one.
