I thought the LED controller can control the white light bulb and color ring at the same time, but it looks like it can only light one at a time. The ease of installation is much easier for this canless light then a canned recessed light. I had to run a new supply wire for a new light. I suggest not considering the wires on the LED light, when deciding on what wire you need to make a run. On my 15 amp breaker, I completed this 7 foot run with 14/2 NM-B romex. The light brightness and spread is better than my old light, and I suspect overall it consumes less Watts. Switching out my light style with these is a definite upgrade in interior design and upgrades my light to two lights, which fills in a “dead spot” of lighting I was having issues with.
The LED’s are individually addressable and seem to remember, So if I set 1 to cool and 1 to warm white and turn off the light switch, I can come back turn on the light switch and they will be eternally stuck in 1 cool 1 warm. Same for light bulb off, 1 ring red, 1 ring blue mode, Until I change them in a phone app.
You need a phone app. to address these. I do not like the Sunco smart lighting app. I didnt like its privacy policy. It asks too many questions and wants too many permissions and the “try as guest” button is hidden. Once in the app. it only addresses the light bulb and you cant address the color rings. The app. gets a JUNK!! 0 STAR!! Rating and gets denied of permissions and deleted. Luckily there are other apps designed for the control and management of “smart” devices, that also demand your router passwords, I can settle with that can control the light and color ring. I dont know if their app. privacy policy is some copy pasted policy or the app. is a privacy leak, but I dont like it. I wish the they would legally make an effort to promote security in their language then NOT “UPDATE” THAT LANGUAGE. Either way I dont use their app. its junk and into the trash it goes.

These SUNCO lights produce a good quality flicker free light. They are easy to install and look nice in the new room we added recently. I like that there are a variety of modes and colors available.
The downside is to adjust the lights and to make them work properly you must download their phone app and hook them up via Wi-Fi. It would be much more practical if they could be adjusted with switches on the back of the light or via a remote. My son installed the lights, including installing and using the app on his phone. He will be moving soon. The issue I have is that if my husband and I want to make use of the various modes and colors of the lights we need to each download the app. To make it worse the room is for our guest room. So I guess the manufacture wants each guest to download the app if they want too use the nightlight feature. It’s just not practical. I’d like it better if there was a remote to use instead. That way it would be easily accessible to everyone. I prefer our kitchen lights that go from daylight to nightlight with a flick of the switch. They brighten or dim via the rheostat on the switch. Easy to use by all. These lights are designed for someone who lives alone so they would be the only person changing the color and mode of the lights.

This Sunco 4-pack of recessed lights provides some much needed additional light for a media room. I selected these for the RGB color sync to music but am also really enjoying these added to my smart home app. The ease of use and adjustment via voice is nice. One thing to note, my only issue so far is they seem to need constant power so am having to reconnect them. Without that live wire, they paired easily and worked great but as soon as switch was operated they needed programming again. With that said, great lights just be aware of your power source to avoid adjustments.

(My original review was 1 star. I have since changed because I determined (after many, many, many hours of troubleshooting) that I received the wrong product. Customer Service agreed with me and admitted fault and sent the correct one.)
Now that I have the correct product, I do like it. Pairing was very simple. The lights go into pairing mode as soon as you turn the light on. (I used Smart Life.) After the product is paired, I love that you can control the brightness, white quality via the app. You can also change the color too but I don’t like their execution of it. For some reason, they light the ring around the light itself (see picture) instead of the actual light like the other Amico set I have. I guess this has more dance party vibe. Note my picture was taken with mirror behind it so in hindsight that’s confusing, sorry about that.
One more thing. Also, they do have very cool feature where you can turn your lights into a sunlight alarm clock (where lights slowly turn on during the times you requested).
I have a few dislikes. I don’t like that there’s a slight delay when you turn the light switch on. I also don’t like that you can’t anything without using the app. Imagine moving out of your house. How do the next owners know what to do? (One example of many.) This fact has me leaning back to traditional canless (with physical switch on the box). They don’t get dinged for these because based in my experience all smart canless lights have these problems.
This last one is why I knocked this product down a star. I don’t like that they use plastic boxes instead of metal boxes (like most all companies). I am guessing they do this to cut costs. I realize all switch/outlet boxes are plastic these days but I still don’t like it. If there’s a short up there in my ceiling, I’d like to know its contained in a metal box.
