Roku Express 4K+ | Roku Streaming Device 4K/HDR with Voice Remote, Free & Live TV by Roku

I bought this for my parents.

They were trying to use a laptop HDMI output to cast Netflix, Prime Video, Hulu, etc. to their TV. Imagine hassles every time you want to use the laptop as a laptop. Hassles every so often because it won’t connect to the TV. Hassles every so often because the laptop has internet connectivity issues, hassles because cables go bad being moved around frequently. And no remote control. Want to change anything besides the volume? Get up and mess with the laptop.

Oh dear…

This Roku connects to everything they were doing with the laptop, and has various other live streaming options as well. Apps for everything.

It’s TINY. It sticks to the top of their TV. It has a REMOTE (!!!!!) that works great, doesn’t even have to be pointed in the right direction.

It’s been a few months, but from what I can recall the installation was straightforward. Mostly just plug in, configure WIFI, create an account, login, good to go.

Well, I’m late to the world of Roku had no idea what it was bought a small Roku TV for our RV because it was a really good price and just fell in love with it now we’re home and I’ve bought the Roku plug-in devices to add to both of my TVs at home it’s a great little gadget so easy to use. There’s no learning curve. You just plug it in. Turn it on. Click on your HMDI port and you’ve got everything at your finger tips.
Depending on the kind of TV, you have depends on how difficult it is to get to your streaming apps we have an LG that makes it difficult to pick the app you want takes a really long time probably three or four minutes before you actually can get to the movie you wanna watch so this Roku thing is wonderful We really like it so simple and so easy. I would recommend anybody out there if you’re on the border of buying it or not get it. It’s very reasonably priced oh and I do want to mention we have three fire sticks not so easy to operate. Roku also has a microphone button Works like a charm. I never could get the one on the fire stick to work no matter what I ask it or what I said or how long I held the button down never never so needless to say most of those are just in a drawer. There’s no lag. It’s just a wonderful operating tool for TV simplifies everything And so far although we haven’t had it very long. That’s very reliable. I would buy it again if I have any more TVs, I’m going to buy the Roku brand cause then you don’t have to add anything.

I’ve used other steaming devices and sticks, and it wasn’t until I tried the Roku that I was sold! I ended up buying a couple more for family members and another house. The portability aspect of it is awesome.
What I REALLY like about it is the snappy performance! Not sure why bit the other streaming devices that I have used, and same goes for my smart TV, they were all glitchy, laggy and often froze up requiring restarts. Ugh.

I would have easily given this 5 stars, but the frustrating part is the non-lighted (back lit keys) remote!!!!!!!!!! Dumb. Fail. I ended up purchasing separate backlighted remotes but almost at a cost of what paid for the Roku to begin with.

PLEASE provide back-lit remotes standard. No brainer.

Things I liked:
1. Easily affixes to the bottom or side of a TV using the provided adhesive strip, so you can still wall mount the TV or just keep the Roku off of your stand if using standard legs.
2. The included voice remote! It now allows control of power and volume of the TV. This alone makes an upgrade worth it if considering moving from an older Roku.
3. 4K with HDR – image quality is much better compared to previous generations, as long as your display supports HDR.
4. This is a fairly low power device, so I didn’t have any issues using the TVs USB port to power the Roku as it keeps it powered on even if the TV is sleeping. As a result of this, you can keep the cables nice and tidy, and no additional power adapter required, even though it’s included.
5. No issues connecting to 5Ghz WiFi, though I didn’t try 2.4

Things I didn’t like –
1. Unable to disable the built in Roku Wi-Fi which is tied to the ‘remote connect’ feature. This is due to the voice remote that’s included as the TV uses this feature to allow that voice communication. Not a big deal, but if I can reduce devices from broadcasting unnecessarily I still try to.

Overall, a great solution for modernizing an old TV, or if you prefer to not buy Smart TVs where performance degrades over time. With one of these, you can upgrade over time and keep using your same display.

Works well in helping to make my tv a smart tv again and allowed me to watch shows on WiFi. Very easy to use and set up.
