This Ooma Telo device exceeded my expectations. We live where cell phone service is in nonexistent. We also don’t have a landline. Our iPhones used over Internet have lags and gaps in the conversation coverage. The Ooma somehow does not have the same gaps.

The base station is easy to install. You just plug it into the back of your router to start with, and if that works, you can proceed to plug it into the back of the modem. We just left it in the router because that works well. The handset is an added, plus, because it gives you all of the buttons that you might need to use menu systems and various companies.

We also installed the app on our iPhones and can make calls easily when we’re connected to the Internet. I have yet to receive a call to see if the notifications work as advertised, but see no reason why they will not. This is a very big improvement to our house. I wished I had purchased this years ago. I recommend it.

Nice. With our Quantum Internet speed it is great. Even better is the UNLIMITED International calls for a very,,very low monthly charge. We also cut the cord on our land line. With OOMA we pay only taxes [<$7 a month). Quality of calls is excellent. With the upgrade to quantum, faster internet , less expensive phone fees more than offset the higher Quantum internet service. Stream movies and music with ease. It is great to have options to reduce our monthly bills yet have better service!

So far, I am very happy with Ooma!! Shipping was fast, set up was super easy, and it only took maybe 10 days to transfer our number to Ooma even though they first estimated several weeks. They even sent me emails updating me on the progress of “porting” our number. The sound quality is pretty good. We have had AT&T for years and have had nothing but issues with them. We removed long distance from our home phone to save money, but when we tried to add it back the next year, we were told that offer had expired. So we had to stay with a basic line which rose up to $80 a month …… without long distance!!!! Also, without warning or notification, they dropped my lifeline discount and I didn’t even notice for almost a year until I became concerned with how high our bill was getting. I requested 5 times for them to send me the lifeline form so that I could get back the discount, and it was never sent to me. Enough was enough, and then I struck gold and discovered Ooma!! My only concern is during power outages in which we will not be able to dial out or receive calls. This really worries me because we live in fire country and it currently is fire season. We shall see!!

The service worked great for a few months and was convenient – then one day the phone service just stopped and there was no connectivity. We talked to several technical support folks on several occasions who sent us to our internet provider (Verizon) who told us there was no firewall issue on their side. To their credit Ooma offered to send us a replacement which we tried but still no luck. After six months of no connectivity and a flashing red light we finally decided to pull the plug. Ooma did refund our monthly service charges but they weren’t willing to have us return the phone system to refund that so we’re out the $90 we paid on the system.

It’s a good thing I ordered a NU10 smart phone when I ordered this Ooma Telo and handset. I didn’t have a sim card in my smart phone, but I was still able to connect to the internet and register the Ooma Telo with my wireless internet network. The first thing the direction says to do is to activate the Ooma Telo before plugging in the power and this is where I got stressed out. I never owned a smart phone before and didn’t know how to scan the QR code on the back of the Ooma Telo. I tried to enter the activation code manually with the other option, but it kept saying something is wrong. You will need a smart phone to scan the QR code to activate the Ooma Telo. I eventually figured out how to scan the code with the camera lens. It’s like taking a picture without clicking anything, it just activates when the camera lens aligns with the QR scanning code. In addition, I had to order a cheap sim data card for my smart phone. We get free phone calls, but it won’t work without an internet connection.
