I love this monitor, It is my office when I’m away from my office. If not plugged in it does drain the laptop battery but that is expected, I always carry external batteries anyway.

The size is perfect, the clarity is as good a my macbook, and it just works.

This ASUS ZenScreen is one of those things you don’t realize you needed until you have it. Super lightweight and easy to carry, it plugs right into my laptop with just one USB-C cabl; no extra mess. The display is crisp, colors look great, and the matte finish cuts out glare when I’m working by a window. It instantly boosted my productivity when working remote or traveling. The included case doubles as a stand, which is a smart touch. Solid build, reliable connection and super convenient.

I purchased this product as I travel a lot and needed a second monitor when using my laptop. The dual mode input is a great advantage as it increases the compatibility to include all laptops with a USB port, without requiring the additional input.
The size and weight make it great for travelling, fitting easily into my existing laptop case.
I would definitely buy again, and am considering a second to provide me with a third screen option.

The monitor has good build quality. Plug and play, no issues in connectivity using Type C cable. Works equally well with USB A cable when drivers are installed. Very portable being lightweight. The color reproduction is not great but good enough for general use as an extended display.

I have been a loyal Asus customer for about 20 years now.
    YES, 20 years.
They are my go to for quality performance laptops at a fair price.
When searching for a portable display I was pleasantly surprised to see an Asus product available at a price comparable to a copy cat generic product.
I have had zero issues with this display. My laptop immediately recognized the second display so no setup was needed.
I dig the detachable kickstand and consider it a cool feature.
The protective sleeve case is nice too.
I highly recommend anything by Asus

The design and touch/feel is great! I like the included kick-stand which works great both Landscape & Portrait mode. Overall, it’s super as a portable monitor. Now onto something TRICKY that it took me some time to figure out. The USB-A mode DOES NOT WORK by default! For those who want to use this with a legacy USB-A laptop/PC, you may have a problem due to insufficient power output of the USB-A port. This will cause the monitor to keep rebooting despite having the driver installed.

What you can try if USB-A port doesn’t work (SHORT form):
    Method 1: Use a shorter / higher quality USB-C to A cable
Method 2: Try to use a device with USB-C to connect first, then turned down the brightness (try 50), then go back and try with your USB-A device

    Longer story:

I bought 2 of the same products and eventually figured out how to get it work, and i’ll explain it here:
    – Device I’m trying to work with: MS Surface Pro 6 (Only has a USB-A port)
    – The default USB-C to USB-A cable does not work by default. I bought 2 of the same monitors, behavior the same.
    – I happened to have my own USB-C to USB-A cable which is higher quality and shorter, and it works. So I figured it’s a power-related issue, as USB-A port’s power output is limited.
    – After successfully having the monitor work with a shorter cable, I change the brightness from the default 100 to 50. After that, I changed to the factory USB-C to USB-A cable, and now it works. So I figured the factory USB-C to A cable has less power delivery ability and didn’t handle it. I haven’t really tried between brightness 50-100, what brightness will be too much for it to work. But with brightness 50, it’s already pretty bright for my use-case.

I rarely write reviews, but I thought the above info would be useful for people who needs to use it with USB-A port. I also suggest ASUS to perhaps set the default brightness to a lower value and also include a better quality cable.

About a year ago, a customer support rep from a company I work with was raving about the “portable monitors” her team had acquired. I remember being intrigued by the concept but I’d yet to encounter an application for such a thing — both my home and on-site offices were already equipped with full-sized, dual screens. However, since then, my wife and I acquired a travel trailer, out of which I plan to work remotely on occasion. I started thinking about using the trailer’s onboard HD TV as a second monitor but it’s really too far away from my workspace to serve as a 2nd monitor. I then thought of hauling and extra, full-sized monitor along but the work to set it up, tear it down and find storage space seemed to outweigh the benefit. Then I remembered that conversation last year about portable monitors ….

The ZenScreen seemed to garner good reviews, and I’ve been happy with other Asus products I’ve purchased in the past. Mine arrived yesterday and I gotta’ say that I’m rightly impressed.

I’m not sure why you’d want to consider the larger models as those seem to fly in the face of portability. But the 16″ model (15.6″ viewable) is lightweight and small enough to coexist with a laptop in most computer bags. Setup is fast and easy – a quick-connect kickstand allows you to place the display right next to your laptop at the perfect angle. Power and video are simultaneously delivered via a single USB C connection. And brightness, contrast and image quality really exceeded my expectations.

My local Target store has a similar Asus 16″ ZenScreen for twice the price. The performance specs seem identical to this one. The only difference seems to be that it has an integrated folding stand verses the screw-on “kickstand.” While the integrated stand seemed a bit more convenient, it didn’t look as sturdy (especially when propping up the display in portrait mode) and I couldn’t justify twice the price.

Obviously, I have not yet had enough time to speak to the long-term reliability of this product. I’ll be sure to edit this review in the future if I encounter any issues. However, this Asus backs the ZenScreen with a 3-year warranty and, as I said, the company has a good reputation for quality.

So far, I enthusiastically recommend the ZenDesk portable display for those who travel with a laptop and have the need for dual displays.

Overall a great buy. The portability and screen quality are huge pluses and the lack of bulky cables makes it a pleasant replacement for a monitor at home even. The stand is somewhat helpful and can make it feel more like a tablet. The one qualm is it sometimes doesn’t stay connected well.

No BS. This is a no nonsense. Everything you need for on the go, without the stress. Grab your device, maybe a keyboard mouse cable and this. You’re good.It even comes with a case. It’ll get your thought all lighting environments, and extensive travel plans.
