I needed a new laptop as I have not bought a decent one since 2000. One teeny tiny screened netbook and one borrowed laptop that doesn’t hold a charge in between really made me feel the lack. There are loads of bad reviews saying there isn’t enough memory to do anything with this particular model. I only really wanted it for some tax work and light internet browsing, and it has been great so far. It’s nice a light (those models from the early 2000s looked fabulous to us since we were all used to desktops but wow were they heavy!) I haven’t used the laptop long enough to drain the battery in one go, so I’m not sure exactly how long the charge lasts, but it’s at least a few hours. I enjoy the portability of this unit, the keyboard feels nice and the screen size is perfect for casual usage. Clearly this isn’t the fancies unit out there, but if all you need is some light internet and Microsoft usage, this is a great unit and reasonably priced. Here’s hoping it will hold up for years to come.

I recently purchased the HP Pavilion 17.3″ FHD IPS Laptop, the newest 2022 model, with high hopes of a powerful and reliable computing experience. However, after spending considerable time with this laptop, I must express my disappointment with its overall performance, build quality, and the included accessories. In this comprehensive review, I will provide an honest and unbiased account of my personal experience, highlighting the key issues that led me to give it a one-star rating.

    Performance:
One of the primary reasons I opted for this laptop was the promise of exceptional performance, boasting an 11th Gen Intel Core i5-1135G7 processor that can reach up to 4.2 GHz. However, in practice, the laptop failed to deliver on this promise. The system frequently experienced lag and slowdowns, even when performing basic tasks such as web browsing and document editing. This was a significant disappointment, as I expected a laptop with these specifications to handle such tasks effortlessly.

Furthermore, despite the impressive 16GB DDR4 RAM and a 1TB PCIe SSD, the laptop struggled to multitask efficiently. Running multiple applications simultaneously caused noticeable delays and affected the overall user experience. Additionally, the laptop’s cooling system proved inadequate, as it often overheated during extended usage, resulting in performance throttling and further degradation of its already lackluster performance.

    Build Quality and Design:
The build quality of the HP Pavilion laptop was far from satisfactory. The construction felt cheap and flimsy, with a plastic chassis that lacked durability. The keyboard had a noticeable amount of flex, and the keys themselves felt mushy and unresponsive. This made typing for extended periods uncomfortable and hindered my productivity.

The 17.3″ FHD IPS display, while boasting good color reproduction and decent viewing angles, suffered from noticeable backlight bleeding along the edges. This issue was especially prominent when watching movies or playing games with dark scenes, diminishing the overall visual experience. Additionally, the bezels around the screen were excessively thick, giving the laptop a dated and clunky appearance.

    Accessories:
The advertised “3in1 Accessories” included with the laptop were underwhelming, to say the least. The included mouse felt cheaply made, with a flimsy scroll wheel and imprecise tracking. It was uncomfortable to use for extended periods, and I quickly resorted to purchasing a separate mouse.

The laptop bag provided was of subpar quality, with thin padding that offered minimal protection for the laptop. The lack of additional pockets or compartments also limited its usefulness for carrying other essential items such as chargers and cables.

    Windows 11 Compatibility and Updates:
The laptop came preinstalled with Windows 11, which initially seemed like a positive feature. However, I soon discovered that the operating system was not properly optimized for this specific hardware configuration. I encountered numerous compatibility issues with various software applications, and some programs even crashed frequently.

Furthermore, despite being a relatively new release, the laptop lacked essential driver updates and firmware patches, exacerbating the compatibility issues. It was frustrating to experience frequent crashes and errors, which significantly impacted my work productivity.

    Conclusion:
In conclusion, the HP Pavilion 17.3″ FHD IPS Laptop, the newest 2022 model, was a disappointing purchase. Its underwhelming performance, lackluster build quality, and subpar included accessories failed to meet my expectations. The laptop’s laggy performance, overheating issues, and compatibility problems with Windows 11 greatly hindered my productivity and overall user experience. I cannot recommend this laptop to anyone seeking a reliable and high-performing device.

The specifications on this laptop have exceeded my expectations. I did get it on sale, but it is worth every penny. I have owned 5 laptops before this, and I will say that this laptop is the best I have had, along with the pack with an extra hard drive. 1TB internal and 1TB external saves me so much headache with work, school, movies/shows, and games! This makes my day-to-day life much easier with 32Gb of RAM. I have had 15 PDFs, 3 Excel spreadsheets, a Word document, Outlook, and 5 tabs open, and it never slowed the laptop down in the least. If you are in the military or have a workload that stacks high, this laptop can take the weight of waiting for loading off your shoulders!

This product is perfect for the value. If you need it for general use then it’s perfect but if you need a laptop for more complex things then this is not the laptop for you. It works at a normal speed not super fast but it gets the job done according to my needs. I need it for constant zoom meetings for work, online classes, personal use. For these purposes it’s perfect.

OK, this is my second Stream. The original was a 32GB that is still operating and is obviously limited by the couple GB remaining after the operating system space. However, was useful for web browsing. This one is 64GB and that leaves about 30GB space for programs plus one year of MS Office free. I got rid of the Windows 10 S mode and the speed for web browsing and program operation is fine. And I’m used to an Intel 11th generation i5 on a desktop and have no complaints. That is an absolutely amazing unit for $200. Of course, in both cases, I’ve added extra room using a USB 128GB flash drive so really, it’s a fantastic deal. The only con that I’ve found so far is that the sound is rather puny but connecting a cheap bluetooth speaker solves that issue. Update: I hooked this up to an external monitor and it gave me an option to go from the native internal screen resolution of 1366×768 to 1920 x 1080 and it shows up great on the external monitor. I’m shocked. I cannot believe this computer was $200. Well, we’ll see how long it lasts.
