Perfect for adding storage capacity to a 4th gen Tablo TV recorder. Plug in, format via the Tablo app, and full 2GB displays in seconds. No input on longevity (it’s new) but couldn’t be happier.

Best price for an HDD of this capacity. Bought it for $329. Working as expected out of the box. No issues, no surprises. Solid performance. Second time I’m buying those high capacity external storage devices a much better deal than an internal option of the same size, that I would pay a lot more.

I purchased this expansion drive almost 2 years ago now (11/2023), and have been using it daily ever since that time. It’s been great for reliability, quality, and is way more space than I could ever need. I backup a lot of my purchased courses that are in both video and audio format, and this drive has been very good for that purpose. I do not use it for backup purposes, so I can’t speak to it in that regard. For saving media, it’s phenomenal.
One thing that slightly concerned me when I first got it was that it was noisier than my 4 TB model was; I thought at first it was a problem with the drive. However, the noise has been consistent for the whole time I’ve used it, and it has never been a problem at all. The noise I’m referring to sounds like the drive is searching or scanning for something – only really occurs when I write large amounts of data to it or when it first mounts or starts up.

This is a GREAT drive for storage. It does, however, have absolutely abysmal read/write speeds and thus transferring data will take a while, even if it’s just 1 GB of data.
2TB is plenty of space to backup old computer files, as well as transferring data between computers. I have had this drive for about a year now and it’s held up alright. It’s super small and slim so it doesn’t take up much space. It actually fits comfortably on top of my computer tower with room for other stuff.
My main gripe is that upon adding this item to my cart, I believed it would be good for extra storage for video editing. And technically, it is. You just can’t actually EDIT on this drive. Trying to edit on this drive makes the editing software load files extremely slow. The way I wound up using it was temporarily storing files until I needed them back on my main internal drive. I have since upgraded my internal SSD to resolve this issue entirely, but it’s just something to keep in mind when you buy this.

i loaded this up with everthing i could put in it, it worked find i had a few Meg left of memory, so that shows it works fine and has pretty fast read and write, but it took days to load this thing up..i do like it, remember it is a 28 TB but when it loaded on you PC it will be changed to 25.5TB you lose 2.5 TB lost to programing to your system.
Good Product 28TB you will lose 2.5tb of memory when load to PC. It needs it, to upload to you faster when you open it

I recently had an external hard drive fail and needed to replace it. This Seagate 24TB expansion drive was a very easy and affordable way to immediately get a massive storage upgrade with a very simple installation. The only gotcha for me was that it came preformatted with exfat file system and I needed NTFS, so I needed to reformat it. But since doing so it has worked great for me and I am very happy with the performance and reliability of the drive.

So far the drive is working fine, and it is fast. I give it four stars instead of five only because it is very noisy. It makes little clacking sounds from time to time as it reads or writes files. Not too big of an issue, but my other drives, which are USB powered, rather than powered by a plug-in cord, like this drive, are super quiet. Otherwise its a great drive with tons of space.

The Seagate Portable 5TB External Hard Drive is an excellent storage solution for both work and entertainment. Setup was quick and easy—just plug it in via USB 3.0 and it’s ready to use without any hassle. The transfer speeds are solid for an HDD, and the large 5TB capacity is perfect for backing up files, photos, videos, or even an entire game library. I’ve used it with my PC and Xbox, and it works seamlessly on both. It’s compact, lightweight, and easy to carry, making it great for travel or daily use. The 1-year rescue plan adds peace of mind as well. Overall, reliable performance at a great value—I’d highly recommend it!
